Diana and the Cancer Woman
It's being called "Lady Di Summer," with Diana-inspired art exhibits around the U.K. and the bookend events -- one birthday concert organized by her sons on July 1st, and the planned August 31st memorial to mark the 10 years since her death. What Princess Diana evoked while alive, and still stirs up in the collective, comes from the heart. In a world with harsh edges, she embodies the power of a gentle hand extended at the right moment. She's a Cancer that found her personal strength by letting her sensitivity and empathy guide her actions in the world.
It seems meaningful that this re-membrance began during the Mercury retrograde in Cancer. It's reviewing the life of a public figure whose inner beauty made her all the more beloved. Her story is one of being a vulnerable Cancerian with no protective shell, finding acceptance outside the royal family, to become the people's princess. Her Moon in Aquarius drew her to causes, as champion of the underdog, and able to convey warmth to the multitudes. Nelson Mandela has said she made everyone feel special, and Angelina Jolie considers her a primary inspiration and role model for her own life. The persistence of her legacy speaks to a recognition of, and perhaps longing for, her kind of power, so different from the "might makes right" type of power that is rampant today.
