In the Eclipse Zone

Thursday August 30, 2007

This is the time between the Pisces-Virgo eclipses, with the partial solar eclipse set for September 11th at 18 degrees Virgo. The total lunar eclipse during the Pisces Full Moon exposed us to the Great All, and it's mindblowing to see so much at one time. It's like taking a ride on the cosmic Tilt-a-Whirl and that is disorienting. Pisces gets jiggy with the space-time continuum, so maybe you're having lots of premonitions and serendipities. Instead of applying Virgoan worry tactics, wait for the pieces to rearrange themselves. The coming new Moon, along with Saturn's move into Virgo, can be a healing force, a chance to rearrange what's been broken up into a new mosaic.

Eclipses were considered a menacing omen in ancient times, something to ritually prepare for. Babylonian astrologers tried to predict these bi-annual events for the king, since as the "Sun of the people," a Solar eclipse made him fearful of losing power. Some early societies just stood in awe of the day turning to night, wondering what would happen next. In astrology, eclipses are thought to open doors to upheaval and disrupting foundations. This particular eclipse cycle jumbles up the good, bad and the ugly, and makes way for Virgoan efficiency to find order again.

It's meaningful that astronomers recently found a gaping hole in the Universe just south of Orion that defies the established laws of relativity and quantum physics. Already puzzling astronomers, will this discovery lead to questioning what we know about the Universe? The Pisces-Virgo eclipse stirs up the kind of discombobulation that leads to new insights. With the fragments still flying, stay as healthy as possible, and open to Virgo's coming lessons of self-care and service to others.

Molly,
What a great piece on eclipses! As you mention, I’ve been experiencing a peculiar increase in premonitions and serendipities of late. My ASC is 17 Virgo, so I expect to feel this one quite a bit… What a fascinating time.

Can you imagine how it must have been for the ancients to have an eclipse happen and not know what it was or why? Or if it was ever going to end? No wonder they got a bit spooked. And its no wonder so much effrot went into predicting them.

Thanks for a great piece!
Sue

Thanks for your comment, Susan.
I remember a quote about how some cultures believe the “Gods forgot about them” when everything was smooth and easy. Virgos and those with Virgo-influences in their charts are about to be remembered in a big way. You’re in the hot seat now!
Also, I just posted a longer article about the new Moon/eclipse.
Take care,
Molly
