Mercury in Scorpio

Sunday November 11, 2007

Mercury has gone into Scorpio, and that means everyone knits their brow again with deep thoughts. Things that were swirling around during the retrograde get passed through Scorpio's X-ray vision. If something strikes a discordant note, you'll want to get to the bottom of it. This Mercury is stimulated by solving intricate mysteries, and probing for hidden truths. It's particularly fearless when it comes to investigating the psychic darkness, and issues of life and death.

This is Veterans Day in America, with parades on Monday, making it fitting to consider the psychic-emotional impressions carried by those that experience war violence firsthand. The LA Times has posted a compelling photo-narrative about James Blake Miller, the Marboro Marine whose combat portrait is a well-known image from Iraq. Miller is now back home struggling to integrate what he did and saw, and has even come close to taking his own life.

Mercury in Scorpio inspires the mental courage to look into such searing places, in an attempt to find emotional peace. It's an important transit since so many of us have anxiety and fear about the state of the world today. Scorpio as a sign understands that the only way out is through. Until December 1st, Mercury's move through Scorpio examines the powerful undercurrents of what's going on.
