It's the naturally sexy month of May, named for the Roman earth goddess Maia. The 1st is Beltaine or May Day, a seasonal celebration with ancient roots in Celtic Britain and Ireland. In the first light of May Day, young men would gather the blossoms of the sacred Hawthorn tree.
