America's Revolutionary Roots
For some time, astrologer Judith Goldberg had been studying the 2008 Election Day chart, wondering whether the Rebel (Uranus) or the Old Guard (Saturn) would win. These two powerful planets are moving toward an oppositional showdown (exact on November 4th, Election Day). Then the Annapolis and Baltimore chapters of the NCGR (National Council for Geocosmic Research) held a panel discussion for Presidents Month, and the ideas exchanged drew her into an illuminating line of astrological research. "I was directed to look for answers in the inauguration chart," she says. "That was my first breakthrough. From that time on, I lived in the question, started researching and connecting dots. The picture began to come into focus over the next month and has been expanding ever since. It has been an exciting process, a combination of obsession, intuition, research and "lucky breaks."
So far, her evolving research has led to the article, Reclaiming Our Revolutionary Roots, which I'm very pleased to post here, after first reading it in the NCGR newsletter. Some of the themes she weaves in are:
- The Foreshadow of America's Pluto Return of 2022
- How Saturn/Uranus’ Hard Aspects Define Our History
- Conservatism on the Decline
- Saturn's Dog in the Race and the Uranian Candidate
- The Generation Whose Time Has Come
- Barack Obama as the (Possible) Reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln
As a nation, we're soon going to be deciding our future based on the visions of these candidates. They (Barack Obama, John McCain and Hillary "Don't count Me out, yet" Clinton) are from different Pluto generations, as well as political legacies. The stakes are high, writes Judith, since the next 14 years will bring critical challenges that shake us to the very foundations. This article offers a hopeful perspective, that with hard work, a little luck (and lucky stars), we'll end up with the best of Saturn's pragmatism and Uranus' future-oriented change in one presidential package. Can we still believe in leadership that stays true to our remarkable revolutionary roots?
I could tell this is inspired writing, so I was curious as to what sparked Judith's passion for the subject of American politics and the upcoming election. She responded, "Well, with Uranus in Gemini sitting on my Midheaven I'm passionate about progressive politics and using my astrological radar I'm constantly looking for signs and trends that are moving us towards the Aquarian Age as well as channels through which to communicate about them." I look forward to reading -- and posting -- more of her astrological insights as we get closer to Election Day, and beyond.
