The Dark Season

Monday September 22, 2008

Today is Fall Equinox, when the day and night are equal, and the Sun goes into Libra. Autumn is my favorite season, though with tensions so high, there's an edge to the melancholy of the Sun's Fall this year. Mercury retrograde is coming up at mid-week (3:17 am on the 24th), a time for a do-over, to reclaim a lost idea or resolve a dispute. A voice of balance could emerge, that re-frames events, and possibly derails certain plans now underway. The retrograde is a good time to reflect, go within for answers, have faith in unforeseen alternatives. This is a dark time in America, there is no way to paste a happy smile on what's happening with our economy.

With Pluto not yet in Capricorn, structures are crumbling, and there's a palpable sense of something pending. In his article on this major planetary shift (November 27th), financial astrologer Ray Merriman writes, Pluto is a force that gathers like dark clouds prior to a severe storm. You can feel the electrical force building up in the atmosphere. You know the storm is coming. How do you really prepare for the re-arranging of all we've known? For now, with so many planets in Libra, it's timely to gather up music, literature, quotes, essays....all that sustains you spiritually. Thanks to Jamie, who sent this essay of encouragement from Jeannie Zandi's site called, Dark Night of the Soul
