The River Has Its Destination

Friday October 3, 2008

Mars is moving into Scorpio later today, adding a do-or-die intensity to all the pent-up feelings. We're entering the twilight zone of the in-between, the Void, when there's a sense of anticipation about what's to come. What happens when you've reached a Dead End? What will TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it) look like? Many sense that the Earth is gonna cleanse herself, moving into cardinal Capricorn, causing all kinds of topplings, waves and quakes of institutions and landscapes. If it's true we signed up for this before birth, we've got all we need to get where we're going. I know. I know. But, is it going to hurt?!

I liked Michelle Bailey-Lessirard's description of what's happening in The Standstill and Your ShadowPluto entering Capricorn is forcing us to deal with the death of the old structures. That means change. It’s a time when the shadow wants to be acknowledged; so Pluto delightfully stirs the pot so the Shadow can be seen. Too often we discount the richest part of the journey...the death of the old ways, the death of the old self. The moments of stand still. We may procrastinate, stick our heads in the sand, yell at another person, trying to keep things the same. We may project these unconscious fears onto another. This type of resistance doesn’t work, and eventually we get on the bus. That is what I see unfolding now.

Mars Scorpio churns what's buried in the psyche, the shadow, and we might see more acts of passion that seem like a mirror of the despair within. With the Mars square to Neptune, groups of people are triggered to act on currents of information that may not be in their best interest. In other words, watch out for aggressive crowd behavior and delusional groupthink. A passing surge of emotion may not be your best guide, especially if it's enflamed by those around you. Your anchor for the coming storm is your inner light, the one that NEVER goes out.

Scorpio enables us to see hidden motives, and is a sign of enormous willpower and self-control, able to hold back from acting until just the right moment. It's a sign that can see in the dark. What's dead is put out of its misery, in a strike that hits the mark with precision. There's an instinct for churning over the decaying matter, and performing some alchemical magic, to create something new. Mars in Scorpio, transiting through November 16th, could cause more to act on their emotional intelligence, and what they just know. What's been buried in the national landfill is churned up to the surface -- can we deal with it? We're going to be challenged to be forgiving of ourselves and others, as we move this long period of death and rebirth.

It takes a lot of faith to let go of the old, when the new is seen only in glimpses here and there. Scorpio's transformation during that time of surrender, sitting in the well, and trusting that the rebirth will come. Our challenge seems to be to let go of dead end ideologies, unsustainable lifestyles, a deadly disconnect from the natural world and so on. The letting go reminds me of these wise words from the famous Hopi Prophecy: Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, "This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water. And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate.

Yes, it’s true what you’re saying: I’m a Capricorn and throughout 2008 I had to deal with various educational institutions – they have unravelled themselves as not what they profess they are. I am very unhappy about it – and it’s hard for me to swallow it – since I had high hopes and wishes for them. Can you suggest any remedy? I know that this is a normal process of ‘reality check’ but it goes on for too long with no ‘light at the end of the tunnel’. I’d appreciate if you could comment. Thanks, E.

Hi Eve,
The changes are so to be so groundbreaking (capricorn) to institutions…that the way we structure foundational things – education, money, food supply — may end up being totally different. I know it’s hard to live with such uncertainty, but as a Capricorn about to deal with a Pluto transit, you could end up being part of transforming institutions in some way. I just had the thought that you could be the Light In the Tunnel, with that Cap instinct for knowing what will endure in these changing times. The Pluto transit will burn away, strip, demolish all the non-essential elements. And get to the core of what can be built upon….as a society that is clearly in an unprecedented period of change.
There are lots of people trying to create institutions that reflect the ‘new paradigm.’ This site,
new paradigm institute gives advice about what that might look like.
The remedy is doing the things that keep your spirits up — eat healthy food and exercise, trust that you’re meant to be living in these times. Watch for synchronicity about your role to play. I’m certain that unhappiness (soul searching) you’re feeling will lead to asking the right questions. And that your power to be part of the shaping of society will be revealed.
“May you Live in Interesting Times.” And we certainly are….
love to you,
Molly

Thanks Molly for the shout out to my blog! These energies offer us all a huge opportunity for creating the new.

I love the Scorpio energies and all Pluto has to offer, like Betty Davis said “Fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.”
