Zeitgeist: Addendum

By , About.com GuideOctober 4, 2008

Follow me on:

I just found out, so I haven't seen it yet, but wanted to let all ya'll know that the addendum to Zeitgeist is available to watch free online. Just go to the Zeitgeist official site and click on the Eye of perception.

The original Zeitgeist was a hit on the 'net that took embedded perceptions about religion, cultural myths, institutions, and exploded them into smithereens. It's stimulating media for those questioning reality and who we are in the universe, and timely entertainment here at the end of Pluto's run in knowledge-seeking Sagittarius. Follow up: Now that I've watched most of it, this use of the word entertainment does sound glib (not intended). Believe me, I know we're living in critical times. Better description might be media for the times, hence the title Zeitgeist.

I’ve seen Zeitgeist a number of times. I love it and what Peter Joseph has done. I just love his tone as he’s narrating it (I think it was him).

You obviously don’t have to agree with everything he says, but it does challenge you to open your mind, which is probably the greatest feat.

In any case, Addendum is loading into my browser right now. I can’t wait!

I get that same excitement, ’cause I know I’m going to be challenged to expand my mind. But something more, to reach for what’s just at the leading edge of what I Know. And let it sift around to see what happens. It’s magic!
Thanks for sharing your anticipation, DK…I’m right there…

have you heard about the Oct 7th timewave freefall prediction, Jay, anyone?

It’s based on Terence McKenna’s timewave zero….his graph based on the I-ching, shows a steep drop off around this time…some are predicting Oct. 7th (Ruth Ryden predicts frequency shift/atmospheric anomaly). Here’s a link.

How about it challenges people to research it for themselves. We are told by the likes of Russel Pine, aka, Jordanus Maxamus, aka, Jordan Maxwell to do our home work; so do it. Do not talk all that we hear at face value. I fell for Zeitgeist and it has had the most hits on my myspace page. But after checking out some of the claims made in part one, found it to be wrong. I read the Egyption Book of the Dead and looked into many of the other comparisons made between Jesus and Horus and Krishna, only to find there isnt the connection we are told. It is the goal of the Illuminati to have have a one world government, banking system, religion and thought. The current financial situation we find ourself in is stage one of creating their one world banking system as they have to ruin our faith in the present one. The Lisbon Treaty is part of creating their one world government, along with the North American Union and the other unions created recently. Zeitgeist is part of their plans of creating a one world religion, they have to ruin our faith in god and religion. I personally dont believe in any god or religion, but have studied the Illuminati and their goals for a New World Order for a number of years. Dont get me wrong. I fell for the first part of Zeitgeist, but only because I had heard it all before from my hero Jordan Maxwell amonst many others. Dont trust what you are told, from government or conspiracy gurus. Do your homework, please.

Yes, Chris, it’s timely, too…with what’s happening to economic systems worldwide. While watcing, I kept thinking about the US pluto in Capricorn, and a deconstruction-reconstruction of the foundation of wealth….some of it based on exploitation of earth-peoples. Economic Hit Men = the shadow, ruthless side of Pluto Cap…taking over earth’s wealth/energy by any means necessary, even killing leaders of countries with coveted natural resources.
A taboo topic in so many ways. Lots of shadows, power struggles, shame, neurosis. And yet, Pluto through Cap, in its dismantling, though painful, could bring in a more equitable system.

PS. Jordan Maxwell told me to drop all this and not to talk to anyone about this stuff. So I looked into his background and found out he is as esoteric as the secret societies he claims to expose. I have the email from him telling me to drop this subject and it is on request for those who would like to read it @ 1984@rock.com.

hisshadyness, I’ve had a similar experience of realizing that there’s a sophisticated dis-information channels moving through the collective via the ‘net. When what we think is fixed reality stars to be revealed as ENERGY….it’s a mutable time and we’re able to easily shift our perspective and wake up to other ways of seeing. And this also could make everyone more vulnerable to being manipulated by information. especially, we Americans who are painfully naive.
It’s always important to seek your own truth, and sometimes that’s not always your first impression of something or someone.

Thanks Molly, a lot of people slammed me for speaking out against what I first believed in. I was expecting the same from your site. So thanks again. I must admit, when I first realised I had been barking up the wrong tree and that all I had believed in was part of the conspiracy, I was devastated and demoralised. Every revolution of the past 300 years or so has been manipulated and directed by the elite f~+@ers who run the world, and there is nothing different from this one. Problem, Reaction Solution. They created the problem, we’re reacting and they have the solution. And instead of Tim Leary and the Beatles, they now have Jordan and his cronnies. They are trying to direct us yet again. Thanks again for not slamming me, you must be genuine. Big up.

I strongly believe we have to support each other through this learning process — what is truth. down the rabbit hole, there are mirages within mirages. And they look so real. I know about the agents within the movements, and that makes it so confusing.

But I keep reminding myself of what the Hopi prophecy (so true and so simple) says. Don’t look to leaders, know your own truth.
I think those times of realizing you were invested in an illusion are part of the waking up process. to question everything, and stay flexible enough to allow your perception to change.
I”m a Gemini moon, and am sure that makes me comfortable with shifting realities. You’re among friends here…I’m not going to allow anyone to get slammed for speaking their truth. I appreciated your story because it’s a reminder that things are not always as they seem — even down the rabbit hole.

(14) Not_I says:

What? You guys believe in starsigns, prophecies, energy and spirituality and find the movie interesting?! This movie isn’t even compatible with your beliefs!

I’m sorry, I don’t know on what basis you’ve accepted or made up this sad ‘Americans=naive’ generalisation, but YOU Molly, must be really naive.

Derren Brown said it exactly as it is: Astrology, prophecies and all this crap is based on techniques such as cold reading. Believing such crap leads naive people to having delusions: “I’m a Gemini moon, and am sure that makes me comfortable with shifting realities.” WHAT? What does it mean that you’re a Gemini moon. Come on man.

October 6, 2008 at 9:44 am
(15) Molly says:

I see Zeitgeist as a movie that challenges assumptions. And to get to the good stuff about Astro, you have to challenge the assumptions of culture. Once you do, you see how it fits together and how I might make a comment about my own Moon sign here.

October 6, 2008 at 10:26 am
(16) Not_I says:

Wrong. Did you actually watch the new movie? Is that what you came up with? That it’s entertaining? Zeitgeist Addendum does not challenge anything. It provides information, and actually in a slightly kitsch/New Age manner, to show us that the monetary system puts people to eternal debt, that there’s corruption embedded in this system, and other similar points.

What is the connection between this, and ‘Astro’? What is the good stuff about Astro really? Please explain, because all I can see is leaps of logic.

Once again: Did you actually see the (new) movie? If so, did you notice in the end that people from different backgrounds give up their religious beliefs and see the world anew, free from delusions, free from superstitions, from social burdens? Perhaps you could imagine in the place of a Christian cross a Gemini Moon or any other starsign?

October 6, 2008 at 11:01 am
(17) Molly says:

The leaps of logic come from a realization that we are inside all this energy, and part of it. Astrology is looking at those currents of energy, and how it impacts trends, our make-up, etc. The universe is energy. That may sound new age to you, but it’s also being confirmed by the new physics. I guess where you see superstition and delusion, I see the complex currents of energy, that make up the universe. And that is interwoven into, but also transcends all religion. But hey, we can (respectfully) agree to disagree, can’t we? Otherwise, there are lots of sites that are aren’t about astrology that are probably more up your alley.

(18) Bill says:

I’m afraid I had to discount much of the first movie based on the false astrological claims in part one of the first movie. I admit that it is a very well-done movie and I enjoyed the pace and tone. It certainly made me think! Point is that I also took the film’s advice and researched its claim from an astrological standpoint. The result? Somebody is being dishonest.

“Addendum” certainly has its strengths, but I wonder about the proposed solution. I guess I simply need to get past the feeling left over from the first Zeitgeist movie – that sensation that someone is trying their best to grind an axe even at the expense of intellectual honesty.

(20) Martha says:

While I am a fan of Zeitgeist and Addendum I think that you should all understand that many of the facts in the movie were grossly manipulated (one review of many can be found ) not necessarily to lead people into some blind and dangerous revolution but instead to provoke thought on many major topics that we overlook, are desensitized to, or just don’t understand well enough to stress out about.

Addendum I think is a much more accurate presentation of fact vs. speculation which I credit Peter Joseph for this time around. The October release of this film was genius as it, probably unknowingly, coincided with today’s US economy crisis. I have a feeling that this will cause a firestorm within the internet community and eventually the Zeitgeist movement will grow to at least 5 million active members as a result of this film.

In closing I would like to state again that a lot of the information in the Zeitgeist series IS MANIPULATED and that brilliant film editing was used to enhance the dramatic effect of the movie. The best way that anyone can make a positive difference is to research the truth and use it to provoke the thoughts of the unknowing public and to challenge those who will defend their own personal ideals on the subject rather than to just go out and start protesting on the streets right away.

October 7, 2008 at 2:19 pm
(21) Molly says:

Bill – I know the beginning didn’t sit well with a lot of people. I’m looking forward to checking out your critique.
I’ve always been astounded that it caught on the cultural current of questioning beliefs — about things we consider foundational. and was especially drawn to the myths aspect, and how cultural myths create collective perceptions.
And in that way, I agree with Martha, that Zeitgeist is itself a piece of art that provokes us into questioning what we think we know. The narrator is matter-of-fact, even as he presents a version of reality that seems at odds with the generally accepted view. Yet, somehow we sense that he is speaking the essence of the truth, about money and debt especially.
It’s presented in a way that’s able to light a fire in the mind, and get those wheels turning. His timing, as Martha says, is genius. And in creating awareness, and at least getting people to question the System itself, it could lead to an awakening on a mass scale. And much needed change in the whole global system of finance.

(22) HLAKAM says:

Hisshadyness, I read your comment in interest. I agree with you, any of the Zeitgeist films are prelude for your own discovery. These films try to distill a vast amount of information into 2 hours, a highly risky proposition. But that’s what we are receptive to after a century of relentless programming. I disagree with you that the Zeitgeist films are part of the One World government agenda. The One World government agenda relies heavily on myths, social structures, nations, governments, churches, mosques, synagogues, etc to do their biddings and therefore will not destroy them. More importantly, the One World agenda doesn’t advocate energy independence on an individual level. After all, the need for energy is what binds us inextricably to the current social stratum, thus the manufactured reality. We are never truly free until we are completely independent of another human being for our energy need. The One World government agenda doesn’t encourage you to ‘get off the grid’. In fact it encourages you to get on the grid for added ’security’.

You are on the right track. It would be helpful for your journey if you stop accumulating heroes, whether that be Maxwell, Zeitgeist films or anything else for that matter. Those are merely voices in the crowd, among which some of them are saying something that makes you stop and consider an idea on your path forward. Don’t leave YOUR path and start following anyone of them. However well intentioned they are, they are as flawed as you are and if you minimize their relevance down to their flaws only, you are merely sabotaging yourself.

(25) Venn Diagram says:

Like the first film, ZA contains some facts, some dreaming and a lot of conclusions pulled from thin air. It is more relevant because much of the discussion is about the collapse of the monetary system which we are seeing today. However, that same collapse challenges the actual “supremacy” of the banks that Peter Joseph is afraid of. If they’re so powerful, why are they collapsing?

October 13, 2008 at 1:29 pm
(26) Haxwell says:

Venn Diagram.. You should watch this film called The Money Masters. What you have to realize is that the wealth these banks have will not be lost, it has NOT been lost. You are seeing the facades decay, but the wealth they have is simply transferred elsewhere, and guess what? Elsewhere ain’t us! The “supremacy” of our current system still stands, because until it is eradicated, it will continue. Doesn’t matter if there is recession after recession, depression upon depression, it has and it will continue. The failure of a bank or two or three thousand does nothing to the system. Until people become aware of the ludicrous nature of it, it will continue.

So my only problem with the film is the dogmatic absolutism displayed in the 3rd act, so to speak. I did not think many of the conclusions reached were rationally explained to the level I had hoped, and I think that the conclusions themselves were extremely strong and unwarranted with regards to the evidence provided.
We should not accept this unreasoned conclusions and assertions which tend to concentrate in the end of the film. For example, Behavioralism is strongly advocated, however, it is not properly explained, rather stated as matter of fact.

(31) Autumn Leaves says:

i was moved very much by jacque fresco and his ideas. unfortunately, i have been reading other reviews and comments all over the web and it’s obvious that we are not ready. people immediately shout “communism!” and “socialism!” and “new world order!”…and this from the sites that are supposed to be populated and run by the people that have “woken up”. in my opinion, these so-called revolutionaries that want to end the rule of “them” has no idea where to go from there. and it’s always “oh, well, ‘they’ are controlling us and have the power so we can’t do anything about it” and they offer suggestions like “buy nothing day” and “go protest this and that” when in reality, that does nothing but give some like-minded people something to write about, as if that makes a difference. if we want to get beyond the current situation, we have to renounce the “us vs. them” mentality. there is no one to blame but us for the way things are. and by us, i mean all of us, going back to the first time one human killed another.

the ideas that jacque fresco put forth are so radical that we can’t comprehend this vision of no religion and no politics and no menial labor and no competition and no money.
and it’s too bad for us that we can’t.
but maybe in the future, we’ll learn.

(33) hobojed says:

I personally think the timing of Zeitgeist Addendum is increadibly suspicious. Just like the first film had the dubious section on religion that was a hook that brought in viewers (and had little to do with the rest of the film), the second film is released with a premise that is guarenteed to catch peoples’ attentions in the current ecconomic climate.

While I do agree with the film that there are serious problems with the system as it is now, the solution it gives is pretty much laughable. Espescialy when they don’t provide a plan for reaching the solution, they just hint that it will rise out of the ashes of the old system.

I do agree with the film on one major point: that our current system thrives on scarcity. However, I believe any solution provided should focus on reversing that root problem, rather than trying to start from scratch. For example, wouldn’t a proposal to completely revise patenting laws, to prevent patent locks on new technology, be far better than saying “Destroy the system!”? Sure it doesn’t solve all the world’s problems, but to believe you can solve everything in one easy step is very naive.

I’m into astrology, anarchism, and anthropology…this documentary is pretty unique in that it not only debunks capitalism and religion, but also provides a reasonably detailed basis for a future society. (37) Oneloveinus says:

If you go to the http://www.thezeitgeistmovement.com website there is a 72 page overview of the venus project full of the minor details of what it proposes and there is a FAQ’s page with about 80 questions that cover most if not all the questions anyone could raise. Go to the website and read it, you won’t find NWO propaganda or half sighted solutions there. The VP people understand there are steps and to them the VP as it appears in the movie is the ultimate goal. But as they explain in their overview with any scientific experiment which is how they figure on redesigning our cultural and as they point out theories are tested, validated and then applied. To think that these people have dreamed of a world that looks pretty and works well without any significant for thought is naive. One of their points in the movie and on the website is that we’ve never given our problem solvers, i.e. scientists, a chance to solve the problems of society and create a sustainable world culture. And for the people who fear or think a technologically enriched society needs to take these few steps to make sure they understand what they are discrediting in the first place. First turn of your computer it is the result of technology. Two turn off your heater/air conditioner for they too are results of technology. Three sell your car it is also created through technology. Four leave your house, you bowls, your towels, your forks, you milk jug, you eggs and egg cartons, your bed, your blankets, your cigarettes and your lighter, all your possessions, leave them all behind. Five when you get outside strip nekkid for your clothes were also a result of technology. Six refrain from using any public street or walkway, their design was based on technological advancements from before your time. Seven lay in the grass or climb a tree to protect yourself from all the entities you were previously not threatened by i.e. the weather, animals, lightning strikes. Our lives are inundated with technology, every last aspect of it. To deny a future where technology isn’t intelligently maintained for the sustainability of the planet and all life on it is irrational, irrelevant and makes me think there are still neanderthals around but they were even technologically advanced for they had clothes and weapons to hunt with. Damn the technology! It helped my race survive all these thousands of years.

Instead of using “They” to describe some outside elite, remember that we are all human and we all are placed into environments that lead to different choices. We are all one; there is no Other.
