A Pluto in Virgo President

Wednesday November 5, 2008

A new generation is coming into power with the election of Barack Obama for President. The Pluto in Virgo group (born 1956 to 1971) seeks to transform society through grassroots change, helping others, healing systems that are broken. I heard Pluto Virgo in his acceptance speech, when he talked about a new spirit of sacrifice and a new spirit of service.

It's also in the sober way he describes what lies ahead, But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And, above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it's been done in America for 221 years -- block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand. The world wants a 'less arrogant' America, a perception that reached its pinnacle under Pluto in Leo generation leadership (Clinton, Bush). Obama's victory speech was full of humility, inclusiveness...and the longed for return of reality-based promises. It's not going to be easy, as we still face the breakdown of structures and systems. But by electing this Pluto in Virgo President, there's a chance for America to express her power with the common good of the world in mind.

Thanks for this insightful post. I definitely believe that the time has come for a less arrogant president as well. I don’t know much about pluto and so it is great to see how it pertains to what is going on right now.

Thank you jh. These two articles explain more in-depth how Pluto influences an entire generation. Pluto-Leo are the baby boomers. Obama is an early Pluto Virgo. Later you get the generation born with the Pluto-Uranus conjunction in Virgo….the intense late sixties.
I’m part of that group, born July 4th, 1967. And I’m really feeling ‘activated’ to step forward in a more powerful way. What that will mean, exactly is not clear. With Virgo earth, I see innovative change to detoxify the natural world. And communities becoming more tight-knit, and mutually supportive, to deal with the breakdown of globalization. Obama as community organizer, and his talk of green jobs, will surely have programs that set those kinds of change in motion.
I was really moved by the way the world responded. And hopeful that our recent history may be seen as an aberration, a blip in time. That we might go back to being seen as an industrious, kind, generous, resourceful, agriculturally diverse (small farms and slow food), and the country the world looks to for integrity of leadership. I guess a lot of that is up to the rest of us, too. I’m hopeful!
