Mercury Retrograde!

Sunday January 11, 2009

Mercury is retrograde starting today, and that can alter perceptions of what's going on, and cause some things to go haywire or be delayed. It's in the air sign Aquarius, one that normally has an expansive vision. In retrograde, it's like looking through a fish-eye lens, where you're not sure what you're looking at. That's why astrologers advise caution when making set decisions under Mercury retrograde -- the picture might not be what it appears to be.

If the retrograde rhythm feels like idling or being stalled, that can be frustrating. But if you go with the flow, and not tense up with dread, it can be surprisingly productive. It's actually a chance to rest the mind, and reflect on what's been happening. Sometimes it guides you back to ideas that had fallen by the wayside, but add vital dimension to your experience. The time is now, for projects that seemed too far-out or unconventional before.

In the U.S., we're heading into the inauguration, when we'll be experiencing that historic moment together. Aquarius is a sign of collective visioning, so there may be surprises there that reconnect us to visions of who we are as a nation. The retrograde puts up for review, where your own thinking meets that of the whole, and how that creates reality. The retrograde can be a contemplative time, when you re-visit the interior of your mind's past, and in this case, the greater mind of "all of us." It lasts all month, and should be an interesting time, when public perception could awaken to new visions. And how that begins with each person's view of the big picture.

As an Aries with Sun conjunct Retrograde Venus and Moon conjunct Mercury in Pisces you have given me the perfect excuse (or should I say guideline) to indulge in what I always do – dream away the day and mainly about things past and things pertaining to the “Big Picture”. And I can do this guilt-free three times per year under differing conditions and circumstances! Thanks! All that stuff about contracts, meetings, wills, lawyers, misunderstandings, break-downs in communication, technological interrupts, etc. is scary. Like, do these things at this time and you are doomed to delay, failure, etc. Please do not sign anything or travel (you will loose your wealth, luggage or forget something important, etc. Or your hosts will just not quite get the idea(s) you are trying to convey through whatever language interface). Yes! It’s time to avoid all of that and head for philosophy, art, literature, music, dance, poetry, daydreaming, freedom of spirit, meditation, gratitude and totally unstructured endeavors where bureaucracy and business become (for a brief interlude) the scorned. Go Neptune! This Post is very enlightening and further proves the practicality of Astrology.

oh, I relate and thank you for your thoughts. Mercury Rx reminds me that the real manna of life is art, love, friendship, dance, drama, soul movement, emotion, music…For me, with Mercury Rx Cancer, it is nigh on impossible to crowd that out with the mundane fine print, contracts, bills, etc. When I’m not wanting to take a nap, I’m trying to fit productive work in between the daydreaming. Who knows where we go, and what we do, when straddling worlds…and what amazing discoveries we’ll make in that vast place within. And not resisting, but being in the “I Am” of who you are, the Aries of the neptunian variety!

EVeryone should read this new article I just found on Llewellyn’s website entitled “Mercury Retrograde: Above The Hype & Beyond The Spin”. It’s great and finally puts this celestial phenomenon in perspective.
