Being in the Dark

Since the first new Moon in Cancer back at the end of June, I've been in the Void. For me that's meant a feeling of being in limbo, of listening and waiting. I'd feel lost if I hadn't been here before; I also know it's just part of this breakdown of society thing going on. The old is falling away, and the new is not here yet. For me, the Void has meant continuing to cast off what's not authentic; it's wanting to anchor in natural time and be in synch with the Earth and the elements.

And today I picked the Raven Medicine Card, with its message, "Raven magic is a powerful medicine that can give you the courage to enter the darkness of the void, which is the home of all that is not yet in form." Every month, we have a chance to go into the Great Mystery, at the new Moon, to just be present to what's there. The eclipses are releasing the floodgates of life times of emotion, so it's no wonder if you're feeling in the dark. I love this advice from Medicine Cards: "Do not try to figure it out; you cannot. It is the power of the unknown at work, and something special is about to happen. The deeper mystery, however, is how you will respond to the sparkling synchronicity of this alchemical moment. Can you accept it as a gift from the Great Spirit? Or will you limit the power of the Great Mystery by explaining it away?"

In her book, 2012 and the Galactic Center, physician Christine Page writes about the Void as the encounter with the Dark Goddess. It's frightening to surrender to its creative force, since we don't know who we'll become. Are these bookend New Moons in Cancer, in the sign of the Mother, preparing us for what's to come?

Christine Page, M.D. interviews on Conscious Media Network:

"Everybody I know is heavy’d-out right now, which I see as very encouraging." Jessica Murray on the Eclipse of the Heart.
