Are We There Yet?

Monday October 26, 2009

So many of us are verklempt in our search for life purpose. We're weary from "seeking." It's a longing to go home, to live as the true divine beings we know we are. But the real paradox, says astrophysicist Jeff Fisher, is that we're already there. It's all around us, and casting off our heavy-duty shackles is as simple as seeing with "clear sight." Fisher writes, "And in the clarity of Oneness, life loses its heaviness, and what is is always enough. Some people have called this "spiritual awakening"; however, it's not something complicated, and it's not reserved for the lucky few. It's an awakening as simple and obvious as the sound of the rain splish-splashing up on the roof. It's a bit like having a dream, and getting lost in it, and then waking up, and opening your eyes, and looking around and realising that yes, of course, it was just a dream..."

On his site, Life Without a Centre, he chronicles his journey to discovering Oneness and the happy realizations it's brought him. He studied at Cambridge and considered himself an atheist. But then he got seriously depressed and ill, which led him to being addicted to "spiritual awakening." He spent years earnestly trying to "be present," before a breakthrough happened. The mind gave up, and he entered a deep relaxation, during which he saw that all separations were an illusion!

What he's describing really resonates with me, and the reality that "waking up" is not a mental thing. The mind gets in the way. Fisher's writings are about dropping the way we frame life, from labels we put on people to seeing nature outside ourselves. I see this as a mirror of the Neptune-Uranus mutual reception (in opposite ruling signs), showing us glimpses of a new way to perceive life. It's seeing life as a dream (Neptune) in which everything is alive and there is no center (in Aquarius). Every cell is vibrating, and so are we. We have a steady pace of shocking jolts to wake us up quickly, to know we're all One. This would be the trigger events, like natural disasters, acts of terror, war or modern-day tyranny. Uranus the awakener hits us at the heart beyond words, with Uranus in Pisces.

But could it be that simple? Is our salvation waking up to what is all around us? All the sages say to keep it simple and listen with the heart, to make it through these crazy times. That our minds cannot make sense of what's happening. If you look around, you might see people losing it from trying to figure it all out. But perhaps the hard part is letting go of what we thought reality was all about, like that we'd have this job, or that home, or retire there. Its letting the matrix of what we've held onto as reality fall, with all the disorientation that brings, so a fresh vision can emerge. Fisher writes, "For those who are ready to listen, for those who are ready to lose everything and gain everything, for those who are ready to 'die before they die' and discover something beyond death, this is the possibility of total freedom, right in the midst of a very ordinary life."

It's a message that freedom is within reach, if we only have the courage to release the known for the unknown. I've had glimpses of this sight, and just maybe, this shimmering around us is the New Earth that we are waking up to. As a collective, we are dying to what's been. It's a relief to let go, and stop trying to figure out what's going on. We get new eyes to see the "universe," which Fisher points out literally means "one song." And when we see that we're never separated, there's no need for homesickness. We're always home, because we're part of that One Song.
