Capricorn's Cornucopia

In a recent talk by mythologist/astrologer John Lash, he said it's time to get intimate with the living reality of the planet, or devolve into a kind of zombie state. The planets in signs of deep and voluptuous earth signs (Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo) take us there! Hugging the lords of the plant kingdom (trees) and loving all things green and growing is not for the few anymore. It's a pathway out of any dead zones of stagnation, and a time tested way to lift our spirits.

As you know the wealth-generator Jupiter is in the very stubborn and determined sign of the Bull, Taurus. And this week, the planet of well-being Venus (in cardinal earth Capricorn) is synched with both Jupiter (growth) and Pluto (death and rebirth). That makes this an enriching time to dig deep, die to a false self, and find renewal! It's a great time to build or grow something; to reinsert yourself in nature; to detox your body and home; to take pleasure in the earthly delights. Are you up in your head all day? How about adding one habit to your day that is pure sensation!

The discernment is strong, with Mars in discriminating Virgo, to make wise choices that lead to a more wholesome, productive, satisfying life. If you're sensing the chaos and feeling overwhelmed, the stubborn persistence of the earth signs is with you to hold to your standards! What is worth investing in? What can be grown into something sustaining, and what's dead on the vine?

The cornucopia, shows up in depictions of the feminine, curvaceous Roman Goddess Abundantia. The constellation Capricornus is shaped like a horn of plenty, and with Venus there, let's think about how to generate abundance! Take stock of what's right around you, including people who have the skills, know-how, resourcefulness, dedication to be part of what you're doing.

The quest to become re-embodied and re-integrated into nature, can be a real bonding experience. It's a way to come together when so many are polarized, since most people care deeply about the ecological crisis we're experiencing on the planet. My Mom and I see the current world events very differently, for example and if we go there, it can get ugly. But when we walk through the forest on the nature trail, we're in our more natural state. We can be together in a way that's simple, unhurried and calming.

Earth signs are feminine, and rooted in the real world. Now is the time to suss out opportunities, and use your knowledge of how things are inter-dependent (this happens, then this happens), to sense what's worth setting in motion. And it's also a great time, with the solar descent, to peel off layers, of the body, mind and spirit, to find your footing. Look to the earth sign houses of your birth chart, to see where the gifts of grounding can lead to growth. The earthy energies show us a path to rewards and revitalization, when we bring body wisdom and sensing of the environment around us, into our awareness.

molly, thanks so much for sharing how you are able to connect better with your mom. i’ve been away from home, visiting my mom and family for almost one month and am feeling like i’m losing my ability to ground and stay clear-headed. i appreciate the insight to share a natural experience together – it is very needed as i feel myself struggling to be/stay connected to my mother and sister who both see and live very differently than i do. i don’t share my gratitude with you enough – many blessings to you.

Thank you Millie! A month, wow! I also think the Sagittarius eclipse (25th) triggered realizations across family lines, for those that went home at the holiday (in America). It very much has to do with what we know, moving forward, ever expanding views. I’d say it did and does make it harder to fit back into old roles, when we’re all sharing our philosophy at the table. I appreciate your warm comments. And wish you the very best!
