It's notable that the famous Cancer woman and Aquarius man relationships I found are from a time when gender relationships were more clear-cut, a la Mad Men. A time when the woman ruled the roost, and the man went out and made his mark.
Early Cancer (June 22) Anne Morrow Lindbergh, author of my own Cancer Mom's favorite little book of inspiration, Gift from the Sea found love with an Aquarian aviator. On flying with husband Charles Lindbergh, she said, "Those fields of daisies we landed on, and dusty fields and desert stretches. Memories of many skies and earths beneath us - many days, many nights of stars."
Another famous Cancer-Aquarius couple from an earlier generation, President Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan, (notoriously) had their very own astrologer. We see the funny romantic side of an Aquarian man in I Love You, Ronnie: The Letters of Ronald Reagan to Nancy Reagan. He obviously delights in finding ways to express his love, signing one, Your In Luv Guv. We find out he called her Mommie (Cancer is the Mother sign) and refers to himself in the 3rd person, with clever words true to his air sign "type." "It is true sometimes that Mr. Reagan loses his temper and slams a door but that's because he can't cry or stamp his foot--(he isn't really the type.) But mad or glad Mr. Reagan is head over heels in love with Mrs. Reagan and can't even imagine a world without her--He loves her, Mr. Reagan."
This love match has a high degree of difficulty, with air and water natures that couldn't be more different. It's a loony match that goes far when there's big respect and friendship for the other, as an individual.
