We spiral now into the monthly rendezvous with the void, with these being the rich days of the Dark Moon. As the brill Brit Mystic Medusa pointed out, Thursday, or Thorsday is matched to Jupiter, and that's lucky, because the Moon is in jovial fire sign Sagittarius all day!
But if you're feeling discouraged or low, keep in mind that the Sun (Capricorn) is square to Saturn in this period also. This aspect brings out the Saturnian seriousness of the Goat, and adds to any seasonal melancholy of deep winter. I have the Sun-Saturn square natally, and today felt that loseritis sneaking in. If I'm not vigilant, it'll carry me to a hell where nothing works out, and I'm being punished for some past life misdeeds. Knowing that's coming though, allows me to see it as just one story, and probably not even the most true one.
It's a potentially expansive time, as the Moon now darkens into the far-sighted, public signs Sagittarius, Capricorn and finally Aquarius. It's aces for questioning the old stories and identities, and also a fixed idea of how life is supposed to go.
I chose the Swan in Medicine Cards with its timely message of releasing illusion, and allowing for breakthroughs of perception. In talking with the Dragonfly, guardian of illusion, the Swan says, "I will be happy to abide by Great Spirit's plan. I won't fight the currents of the black hole. I will surrender to the flow of the spiral and trust what I am being shown."
The Dark Moon in Aquarius brings us to self-sourced genius currents. What's key here is trusting the original instincts and impressions. And with the Sun-Saturn square, it's a hands-on endeavor that calls for pushing past resistance, and overcoming stories of not being good enough (or disciplined enough). Even though I was born at the Balsamic Moon, this act of surrender at the Dark Moon is not always easy. With Mars (Virgo) set to go retrograde, just after the New Moon (January 23/24th), it feels a time to commit and find tangible ways to demonstrate your dedication.
Start with small acts, that in the doing, demonstrate that the story has changed or is changing -- that you are committed to changing. Mars is retrograde to mid-April, in the understated sign of walking the talk day to day. In these last days of Sun in Capricorn, it's worth looking at how to win our own self-regard each day. In the restful time of the Dark Moon and the black hole, we don't have to fix it all or think our way through a situation. The very personal act of surrender is different for each person, and can be a passageway through, when we unlock our own resistances to changing the story. By trusting the nothingness of the Dark, when we've let go of the story, the magic happens, and we emerge wholly changed out of the spiral. The next step, in the coming weeks, is finding ways to act on what you are "being shown."
