There's a lot that makes me outraged these days. The suffering of innocents, in war or factory farms, for example. Mars and the sign Aries relates to the warrior and raw force, and now Mercury the messenger is in the red planet's own sign. Mercury is blazing in Aries to May 10th, with one dip back into Pisces. Will more outrage be expressed, leading to action? Will more say, "Enough is enough!" in ways that shock, awaken, inspire?
Mercury in Aries (to May 10th) shortens the distance between a thought and letting it out. It's a short fuse! As individuals, what do we do with this raw Mars-tinged awareness? A former LA Mayoral candidate and artivist Francis DellaVecchia has a plan to turn Outrage into Outrageous Fun.
DellaVecchia's initiative to get a joyful activism movement going inspired me to rename my walk for farm animals blog -- it's now Kiss My Grits! Like a lot of women, especially being a Southern one, I was molded to repress my anger, and didn't say the f-word until my freshman year in college! I associate Mercury Aries with the f-word, because for me it comes out in urgent situations -- of extreme anger, or in times when I've felt in mortal danger.
Anger alerts us to a danger or dishonoring behavior, and with Mercury Aries, there's a strong impulse to take a stand. Acting on what triggers that outrage, whatever it is, is a way of honoring that alert. This mercurial stretch is one where your buttons are pushed, which can be catalyzing. And relationships can be tested by raw truths blurted out in the heat of the moment. This vital sign brings life and direct honesty to conversation that's freeing and can make a relationship feel new again.
