Ancient Earth Wisdom & the Human Story

I love multitasking while listening to mind expanding interviews. The latest worth-a-listen for me, is from Barbara Hand Clow on Sweden-based Red Ice Radio (first hour is free).

Barbara talks with Henrik, the interviewer about the pervasive fear in human culture that keeps us locked in survival mode. Her 2001 book Catastrophobia details how the skeleton key for overcoming this fear, is to understand the real human story, from way back. Barbara says, "The thing that enables people to take on their full intelligence & their full capability is actually understanding their story."

It is an exciting time of new archeological discoveries, like the Stone Age tunnels from Scotland to Turkey, that are coming to light. This fits, in my view, with Pluto in cardinal earth Capricorn, and the earth's mysteries being unearthed, and calling for a transformation of our relationship with the home planet. Barbara points out that the ancient wisdom came under attack around 2,500 years ago, with the burning of the library of Alexandria. It's depicted in the movie Agora, and considered by long-view researchers, to be the beginning of a dark age. Now, though, the planet seems to be giving up her secrets, encouraging another perspective on the human story.

There's an allure of ascending to higher dimensions, and Barbara's latest book is The Alchemy of Nine Dimensions. But Barbara says the point of power is knowing your position in the here and now -- in 3 D. Some of the Earth's ruins and power points (ley lines, vortices) are puzzle pieces to a different way to live in synch with the planetary energies.

I find it fascinating to think that Pluto Capricorn could unlock reserves of power, as we transform our relationship with Earth. There's so much that can potentially pull us up into the head, or make us want to check out. Barbara talks about Neptune Pisces, and the rise of mystical consciousness. But also that there are dangers of being mesmerized, like with new age ideas of leaving the body, becoming a being of light. I don't know if that's where we're headed, and we'll soon vibrate as colors, as one of my friends said she was foreseeing. But the balance to ascension, for me, is descending -- coming into more intimacy with Earth and the magic of the physical dimension.

Today, Venus moves into earthy Taurus, to bring out the sensualist, and the creaturely self. One way I balance the two is by spending as much time outside, as in. I sense instinctively the need to stay rooted in this life, this place, while opening to growing in awareness. How do you delight in the senses, or ground yourself?

Thanks for your comments – I wasn’t sure if I was saying anything new here, but Barbara Hand Clow lifted my spirits – and is worth a listen.

And here’s the post I did on Rachel Weisz as Hypatia, in the movie Agora. there are astronomical/astrological references in it, a reminder that earlier cultures were more intimate with the cosmos than we are today.

I love the photograph. I find the out of doors to be very grounding and when I really need to ground go out for a walk, or spend time in the garden or go to the woodlot and gather twigs for kindling.
