Uranus-Pluto Square: Losing Your Bearings, Brave Leaps

By , About.com GuideJune 22, 2012

Follow me on:

I was in the grip of insomnia in the wee hours last night, with a general sense of being perturbed. We're inching closer to the Uranus-Pluto square's exactness (Sunday, June 24th), and that's an epic aspect for all kinds of unrest.

In her report on the first Uranus-Pluto square, Welcome to the Truth, timekeeper Barbara Hand Clow says we'll look back on this time as one when humanity took a "great leap forward."

As one of those humans living in this extraordinary time, are you perturbed? Such a great word, and in astronomy, perturbation is how new planets, not to mention Neptune and Pluto, are discovered. If you're the center of your universe, how is the square of these two outer planets disrupting your status quo, and alerting you to new worlds of possibility?

With Pluto's transit in Capricorn, I'm seeing in some cases this creates a loss of bearings. Cardinal Capricorn finds its power in the physical plane, with a drive to stand firm, manifest, create a bountiful spread, and leave a lasting legacy. The Seagoat finds meaning from its role as a creator on the earthly plane. Some are experiencing a devastating loss of material world bearings -- with a loss of home, work role, position of authority.

Some who've worked hard their whole lives are seeing what they've built up taken away, drained or under threat. This brings on the fears, the identity crisis and not seeing a place in society. What do they have to show for their work lives? This is a Capricorn question, and much soul searching happens with Pluto in this deeply contemplative sign.

What fears and anxieties come up with a loss of bearings? This is where the courage and carpe diem-ing of Uranus Aries comes in! After (or in the midst of) any loss or time of grieving what was, there's a rebirth. With a square, something new is created. Where Pluto Capricorn transits in your birth chart at 8 degrees is an area to live by a renewed sense of ethics, and to demonstrate authenticity through how you live.

These were night thoughts that came to me, and I'll share more revelations about Pluto transiting my 11th house soon. What's happening for you? Do you see where Pluto and Uranus are perturbing you, unsettling the norms and revealing the new? Let's pace ourselves, because stamina is needed here for the long transition through to 2015. Have a wonderful weekend!

Pluto in my 11th –Uranus in 1st
Leaving facebook felt like a death and dropping out of the norm with friends and colleagues (11th), but it freed me to reinvent myself and be more in tune with my own native impulses (aries in 1st), and relate to people in a way that feels more in synch with my somewhat private (and intense) nature.

Carpe dieming? EH? Have had some insomnia for past few weeks – lots of work = lots of stress. Unsettling worried with finances. Am I losing things that I worked to build up? That happened ten years ago! I am finally seeing windfalls (Jupiter) in all the hard work I have done over the past two years! Jupiter moved into my 2nd house this year – seems good to me so far. I never did well with Pluto transits as a Taurus with Libra rising and Capricorn moon. But as I was told Pluto is extreme wealth as Venus is mild wealth – told to me by an astrologer a few years ago. Miss you on Facebook too but it sounds like a good transition for you.

carpe-dieming? Seize the day! I have had some insomnia too over past two weeks. Lots of work and lots of stress. Financial worry and also social. Am I seeing things I worked for taken away? That happened ten years ago! I am seeing hard work over past two years paying off – mini-windfalls (Jupiter) and Jupiter is in my 2nd house now. Feels good to me so far!

Hi Katwife,

Great to see you here – I know you’re on Twitter. ; )
Pluto = extreme wealth? And in Capricorn, a sign of big, societal structures, that makes me think of the .001 percent — the bail outs of the financial behemoths, the recent mergers of the elite’s holdings, and actions to bring countries into the fold that are still beyond their reach.

But I see how Pluto in Capricorn can bring out a drive to make the most of time (Cap is Saturn ruled) and to be dedicated to life’s work — in a super vigorous, persistent way. So there’s strong backing to go after – and create – what has substance, brings a return and is enduring. That to me is wealth too.

Pluto is in my 2nd house, right now traveling between a trine to my MC in Virgo 7.14 and opposing my Sun, 9.57 Cancer in my 8th House. After a crisis with my boss at work that almost got me fired, I am now building a work relationship to her. I also joined a very deep coach training with New Ventures West from San Francisco in February when Pluto opposed my Sun for the first time. Presently Uranus is squaring my Sun. I am experiencing a new way to go, a development path to follow, for the first time I have my body as a part of the development process and I am stepping into my identity as a Seer. My plan is to quit my job next year and start a business coaching parents on how to see and hold their children lovingly – I also know that with Pluto and Uranus doing this dance, all plans are out the window, so I keep my heart open, try to help the people who cross my path and ask for my help and try to stay present to what the Universe wants of me.
