August begins with an Aquarius Full Moon at 10 degrees. The fire and air elements are in abundance, for inspiration, bright-eyed alertness, clarity, purification.
You might want to perform your own Full Moon Cleansing Ritual -- this is an ideal time to wash contaminated mindsets right out of your hair (antennae). I see here energies for a leap of consciousness -- out of contaminated streams and into inspired ones; nurturing shared vision or creative friendships; washing away dulling preoccupations.
Thinking of this Full Moon, I keep hearing that song from Hair, "Let the Sunshine in!" I get chills watching that movie clip. In the midst of the big squeeze (the Uranus-Pluto square) and ominous this and that, there is fresh air, and the warming Sun (Leo). What is your vision for the world? I long for one where every person (and living thing) is treated with dignity, and encouraged to discover their creative potential.
Strong Leo energies (Sun, Mercury Rx), make it a time for epiphanies about how to express your creative gifts, manifest what you want, or be a bigger light (presence) all around. This is the tingly knowing that life is a precious gift, and the world benefits when each of us shines. I have a new Leo niece born 3 months early, who is struggling in natal ICU to get a foot hold into the physical realm. Welcome to the world, Millie Hall! It's brought home how amazing it is to be alive, and especially now in such an astonishing time.
In her book, 2012 and the Galactic Center, Dr. Christine Page likens Aquarius to the balsamic Moon phase. This phase, the dark of the Moon, she writes, is time to "to distill and transform."
On Aquarius and 2012, Page writes: "As we stand poised between the worlds, it is time to remember our eternal nature.... Each of us is unique; each carries a specific part of the jigsaw. It is time to put the final pieces into our own personal puzzle, and together we will travel through the wormhole into the heart of the Great Mother and beyond."
However you make sense of this time, one thing is crystal clear to most, I'd say -- we are in a time of urgent change, at times frightening, other times exhilarating. Here at this Full Moon, we have a chance to crack apart stifling mental boxes -- and free our minds and hearts.
Aquarius is the waterbearer, who pours cosmic waters -- higher frequencies -- down into matter. The Full Moon gives us an instinct for how to translate these quickening currents into reality as we're living it. This is the mission of Aquarius. The revival of the unique self (Leo) means we're awake and energized, ready to integrate these fresh currents, and see where they take us.Iconica/Getty Images
