Dark of the Moon - Setting Intentions

By January 10, 2013

Follow me on:

The Dark of the Moon has enveloped me, and it's time to go with the flow. I know if I pressure myself to get things done, it'll be like swimming against a strong tide. This is a way to feel the monthly rhythm of going within, and emerging. It's more productive to see what's there in the altered state, than to fight it.

My fellow Moonchild over at Auntie Moon asks, "What are your new Moon intentions?" She writes, "It falls in my 12th house so I'll be setting my intentions around my spiritual responsibilities and duties, as well as who I've given spiritual authority to. That's lots to consider." Check out her collection of Totally Lunar images on Pinterest.

For me, it's the 11th house, and I see ways I've been looking at social connections, and what ways feel right (authentic and empowering) to reach out to the wider world. It also feels like we're in a transition, having moved last year, which shifted our center of gravity. I'm becoming more regionally minded, and to that end, will give a talk at a "Growing Local" conference further into rural Georgia. Yes, I see the 11th house in the desire to be part of something visionary, and make new friends.

But the surrender part, is letting go of preconceived ideas about what the Dark will bring. I like to think on the intentions, but leave a lot of space to receive -- and be surprised. The New Moon (Sun and Moon exactly aligned) is Friday, January 11th at 2:44 pm EST. Then the Moon is void-of-course to Saturday, when the Moon enters Aquarius at 4:01 am EST. Feel free to share your thoughts here and enjoy the restful dark. I'll be back with you on the other side....

Happy New Moon CJ !!! Just saw your bio with the solarized pic – that’s hilarious. I too struggle with my path (cancer sun/gemini moon)….underlying anxiety, eating to calm the nerves. ; 0

Second house for me. Values, and yeah values. A small wonder arrived yesterday in the evening as if to commemorate the moment. We ordered a small, vintage cup made from horn. It arrived in a cheery brown paper package tied up with string from England. Its energy was joyful, and it will bring a great deal of happiness through our adoption of it into our house. I have not made such a purchase in over three years so this really is a special moment!

Fiona, it sounds exquisite and something that will be a cherished possession for years to come. Great timing, too. Can’t help but think about the cup/chalice symbolizing fertility, abundant riches, creativity. Thanks for sharing that !
