Dark of the Moon - Dream or Nightmare?

By February 7, 2013

Follow me on:

Dark Moons pull us into the great mystery, and sometimes that's the hazardous, less well-lit areas of the psyche. This New Moon approaching is in air sign Aquarius, the Waterbearer, for breathing in fresh, freeing currents. But the release and perceptual breakthrough of Aquarius, comes some shadowy debris.

Looking at the New Moon chart, there's a sense of potential catharsis, of crazy genius or just crazy. Be alert to unstable people, and see if you can't carve out time for super stimulating solitude.

I've been having fitful sleep, revisiting the emotional atmosphere of a time in my life that was very dark, and full of secrets. Saturn in Scorpio, the sign of the underworld, is a guide, and is harmonizing with Pisces energy of dissolving (close aspects to Mars-Mercury). I could see the "as above, so below" in my situation, with the two working together to swirl up forsaken parts of who I am, for acceptance and forgiveness. The cool of the air signs makes for clear seeing, into situations that once were murky, stuffed down.

The past can be released in a deeper way, and seen from new angles. There's treasure in these excavations, in the energy released, and in the wisdom gained. I love thinking of dreams as messages from the soul. So a nightmare is a message of a psychic disturbance that's seeking integration somehow.

In the days before a New Moon, I like to look at the chart for close contacts with any planets, and see which house the Sun-Moon are in -- this one is 22 Aquarius. See your forecast for Aquarius New Moon in the Houses. After that kind of brainstorming, I like to just let it go, and see what happens.

See more with updated notes on the Aquarius New Moon. New Moon is late Saturday, February 9th at 11:20 pm (Pacific) and Sunday, February 10th at 2:20 am (Eastern).

“A new sense of freedom is possible, from this catharsis. The path to growth is through being adaptable and releasing energy knots”.Yes – this is very much what’s been happening to me, Molly. And I seem to be releasing a lifetime of fear and worry mental patterns. Happy New Moon, and thanks for these lovely pieces! xxx

Hi Liz,
Hope you’re finding waves of healing at the New Moon. I’m wondering (from my own experience) if we’re not releasing the energetic impressions of many lifetimes. Thanks for sharing your experience. Warmly, Molly
