O.J. Simpson: Running for His Life, Part III
Invisible Man

This is Part III in a series that begins with Part I.

When we’re in the process of growing up, the Moon is always the first place we go to to find comfort and security, and usually the Moon’s placement is indicative of the mother image in the chart. It’s that instinct of merging with that parent who will meet all our basic needs - for food, comfort and touch. The paternal image is usually indicated by both the Sun and Saturn.

With OJ Simpson, we have another important theme - that of a missing father - showing up in the chart in more than one place.. The Sun is squaring Neptune, and the Saturn placement (next to Pluto) is in Neptune’s natural house - the 12th.

This would place into question as to whether or not the father was even around during OJ’s upbringing. When the Sun (the secondary image of the father) is being squared by Neptune, we can see that this parent isn’t exactly present. This aspect is essentially gives the Pisces moon/8th house more meaning, since it shows a weakness in the parental chain of command.

Neptune’s square to the Sun also gives us a larger look at the confusion OJ likely felt when he grew up. A Sun/Neptune square can certainly indicate a father figure lost in the shadows - and not much is known about OJ’s father - except one major point - that he was gay.. OJ’s father had left the family early on, came out and lived as an openly gay man but stayed in the neighborhood, which was very bold in those days. Evidently, OJ later spoke affectionately about his father, but that is all that is known about him.

Developing a healthy self-image and good ego skills is important for the Sun’s development, no matter what sign the Sun is in. However, when Sun squares Neptune, the sense of personal self, and ego-self aren’t defined, or developed. At the very least, we hope this happens - because later in life, we need those skills to give us some sort of framework to work from. At its absolute greatest, a Sun/Neptune aspect can be the very highest of spiritual development, or artistic and creative talent Usually there is a gentle personality and a particular selflessness; the personal needs can be sacrificed for the greater good. because the ego must give way to something that is bigger than mere mortal needs - the needs of the spirit will supercede. The life takes on a sense of duty, and service, and equally, spiritual atonement.

For OJ, there was a positive side of Sun/Neptune. It certainly gave him incredible charisma, and, at times, compassion. It was also the grace and fluidity of his movements on the football field. In the early days of OJ, he was seen to be graceful and almost poetic on the football field. That’s Neptune. He had fluid movements, and almost could seemingly go through a line of linebackers almost invisibly. Thats also Neptune. Neptune was working for him, in that way, very well.

We have to ask a question here - if OJ Simpson had two parents that weren’t fully authetic, did OJ really ever connect with what was going on inside of him? The consensus reality was that OJ was very close to his mother and loved her deeply. But was that truly what was going on underneath?

With all those Neptunian images flying around, there would have to be a distortion of reality, a sense that reality wasn’t what it seemed to be.. This certainly could have left him feeling alternately intangible, or conversely, feeling as though he was the center of the known universe. This invisibility, or perhaps the feeling that he didn’t exist at all, comes from the sense of not having a self, or no-self. There are all sorts of manifestations of this feeling behaviorally, but one main issue would be that there would be extremely soft boundaries between OJ and the rest of the world.
