Here is the chart for the Full Moon in Leo.
What this full Moon favors: Creating support networks. Making art (especially in collaboration). Planning something purely for fun. Seeing yourself as a bright star, in a field of bright stars. A night of passion. Letting go of unhealthy over-indulgences.
This full Moon is in Leo, the sign that passionately Loves what it loves. The ego gets extra confidence, with fiery pride of Self, heightening the awareness that were special. Leo reminds us that were interesting, that our life is a dramatic story. All that makes us unique is in bold, making us want to show it off. Look at me!
But this full Moon is different, with the penumbral (partial) eclipse mostly blocking that Leo Moons illumination. The Sun (Aquarius) and the Moon are in opposition, with the Earth right in the middle. The lunar eclipse is the follow-up to solar eclipse/new Moon in Aquarius on January 25th.
In simple eclipse lingo, that was the major new beginning, and now we get the release of the old. The Leo Moons light is blocked by earthly realities. Like President Obama said at the inaugural ceremony, its time to put away childish things like selfishness at the expense of the whole, ostentatious wealth, runaway greed, etc. Its time to let go of that kind of me-centered thinking.
When its time to move on, the planetary energies conspire to drain the old of life, so it doesnt work anymore. What used to bring instant gratification may start to fall flat. The drama and color goes out, and youre left with just the boring bits. Creative projects arent fulfilling unless they serve a higher purpose. Its a profound shift away from the pre-occupations of Self, and toward merging your personal dreams with that of the whole.
With plentiful planets in Aquarius the Sun, Mars, Neptune, Jupiter and N. Node (the direction of growth) the values of looking after the Whole are dominant. Whats greatly favored now is anything you do to join your resources with others.
The planets are aligned to help you find allies, form networks or survival groups. You might start a co-op on your street, for example, with each neighbor making something for exchange. Local collectives are springing up everywhere, and this is also a great way to get to know people right there in your area. And with Aquarian energy in abundance, it may be unusual groupings that happen quickly. With the eyes of Aquarius, there are no divisions of age, class, religion there are just people. And we need each other to make it through the hard times.
Great, unexpected things can happen under this Full Moon. The status quo values of every man (or corporation) for itself is on its way out. At least, I personally hope so. The restlessness of all these Uranus-rule transiting planets helps us deal quickly with the fall-out. Expansive Jupiter in Aquarius, for example, takes off with any steps you make toward getting in synch with others. Venus in Aries through Spring makes us more willing to take risks with new friendships, and makes togetherness a blast, too.
Pluto and Mercury in Capricorn gives us a mind to see whats going to keep our little boat afloat. It inspires thinking that goes way beyond quick fixes, to look for what might endure in these changing times.
Whats still in play, too, is the pressurized Saturn in Virgo, in opposition to Uranus in Pisces. This aspect makes it important to Be Flexible, even as youre looking for somewhere to land thats stable. It could be likened to working furiously on your boat, even as its being tossed about on the sea with its unpredictable surges.
Under this Leo full Moon and lunar eclipse, we cant say we dont live in dramatic times! But the shift underway is claiming your unique potential, as seen in your birth chart, and stepping up to this epic time. The Leo-Aquarius polarity is a harmonizing of that wonderfully authentic uniqueness, with the bigger community of our fellow beings on the planet.
