It's comforting to keep a sense of continuity, and the 3 squares a day are a chance to slow down. Eating together is a break, to share what's going on, plan and get sustenance. All that goes with it - preparing the food, setting the table - bring you into a familiar daily rhythm.
Are there ways to make this more sacred, grounding and intimate? Is there a way to express gratitude for the nourishment? It's not always possible to eat together, but for busy working families, maybe the evening meal can be that time of sharing.
