Life During the Unveiling

By Molly Hall, About.com

The Hopi said this time would be like a rushing river, and there would be those that tried to hang on to the bank. But much of what we've known is falling away, calling on us to let go and trust. It's a time when we need to cultivate faith, face fears of mortality, so we can truly Live and experience this remarkable moment.

1. You Were Made For This Time

Sometimes I just have to stand back in awe at what's happening. It's a time of the new and novel -- earth changes, the threat of pandemics, the economic crash, environmental collapse.

Astrology's premise is that we're born at the right time, for the lessons and experiences that serve our soul's growth. Reflecting on the birth chart can draw out intuitive hits on why we're here now, what's our role to play. If we were made for this time, the clues to what we're made of, are right there in the chart.

In her book 2012 and the Galactic Center, Christine Page writes, Each soul has been given a unique part of the jigsaw puzzle which, when brought together with all other parts, will create the fullness of our future.

2. Protect Yourself from the Crazy

I once shared a ride to the Burning Man festival in Nevada with some older, wiser free spirits; one pony-tailed fellow telling me that life is all about "what you choose to plug into." The stellium in Aquarius (Neptune, Chiron, Jupiter), the air sign of the group mind, can take us to great heights, or to dark mass delusions. What that guy said to me was an apt metaphor for what's happening, as Aquarius rules electricity.

Aquarius rules the 'net, as a network of instant synapses firing through the global mind. The planets speed up the spread, and balloon things out of proportion, into mass hysteria. You can protect yourself from the Crazy with breaks from the 'Net, and resisting the temptation to go with the manic flow.

3. Cultivate Your Own Light

There's one dimension of our lives that is totally solo...we make our final journey alone, for example. In that moment, what we take with us is the accumulation of wisdom, faith and trust in whatever lies ahead. It's trusting in life and the greater mystery.

In the Tarot, the Hermit is shown with its lantern, a symbol of inner wisdom. What keeps the light on for you? Since college, I've always had a little copy of The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran near. For me, it goes into the heart of mystery, without grasping too tightly. On death: In the depth of your hope and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond...Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity. Faith in life and the eternal self can be a great comfort

4. It's Not Just You

Strange and surreal things are happening, and look likely to continue. There's a growing chasm between the upbeat spin of the main (most watched) channels and what's happening in people's lives. It's disorienting to see through the illusion of reality we've share en masse for so many years. I've been through it myself, and know it can cause panic attacks and fear.

But it's also exciting, and Jupiter in Aquarius throws doors open to the higher mind...revealing surprises about our place in the cosmos. There's curiosity about aliens, inter-dimensional beings, the power of the mind and the nature of time. If you're suddenly seeing life differently, you're not alone and you're not crazy.

5. Embrace the Void

As the old dissolves, just like during a Dark Moon phase, we are drawn into the Void. There's that point of suspension in timelessness that's so magical, since anything can happen. Many have talked about quantum leaps being possible now, and thoughts manifesting reality very quickly. We could look at it as a grand experiment, to see what we can create.

In her book 2012 and the Galactic Center, Dr. Page's mentor talks about this as a time to complete karma across many lifetimes. The sage talks of tearing away the outer coverings of the story to glean the gems within. Says the sage, Unless we do this, we can never gather enough strength to build our light body and hence be the creators of the new world that we are destined to become.

6. Be Present in the Now

I heard a report on job losses, and how many are finding that what was, no longer is.... That doesn't mean giving up hope, but a dramatic shift of perspective. If doors are closing in one place, look for where doors are opening. If you're present in the now, you can see serendipities and signs that lead you where you need to be. And it strengthens the light body.

We're in a time of dissolution. I keep sensing that we're in very new territory. Can you be curious about that, and observe it as a phenomenon? Maybe losing what's been seemingly so fixed will eventually be liberating. It releases you to experience the present without being bogged down. You are free to be who you really are...right now.
