Aries and Taurus Love Compatibility

Aries and Taurus are Zodiac neighbors, but live life at different speeds. Aries is tilted forward in a rush, while Taurus is the rooting type.

Aries is the Fool in the Tarot, rushing in where angels fear to tread. Aries is a brave risk-taker in love and is most alive when pressing against resistance. Aries in love is fiery, flirty and a fighter.

Taurus, in contrast, takes its sweet time. This difference in tempo is super obvious once Aries-Taurus love first bursts with passion, and begins to take root. Taurus in love is steadfast and a nester.

Aries is a fire starter (fire sign) in the game of life and love. Taurus is here to bring things to fruition, and bloom where planted. Aries is a masculine, forward-leaning sign and Taurus a feminine, receptive sign. There can be surprising love chemistry here, especially if genders are reversed, with an Aries female and Taurus male. Both are spring signs, ardent and creative.

Keep in mind that other planets in the birth chart have a say in love harmony. Be open to a thrilling affair, especially in the beginning, that lasts a season or a lifetime. If there's love glue, it's a winning combo, high spirited and always new, that's got the foundation of a sure thing.

First Dates

The impulsive Aries sets off alarms in the more cautious Taurus. The Bull may sense (sometimes rightly) that Aries is in love with novelty, and that's intoxicating when it's You that's the new thing. But the security minded Taurus is wary of being the belle or garçon du jour.

If Taurus pulls back, this will only stoke the fires of the hot-natured Aries. As we all know, Aries loves a good chase! If they take up the challenge, Aries will seek to demonstrate their love, and in the very acts of proving worthy, something solid takes shape.

It's the Bull that intuits any serious incompatibilities from the get-go. The sensual Taurus likes to ease into the new, in an organic way, in a way that makes sense. The innocent idealism of Aries, especially in the rush of new love, is a hard sell for Taurus. There has to something more -- a shared sense of values, shared creative projects, a grounded vision.

Two Beasties

Taurus and Aries love to live it up and are sensual, but they'll have to harmonize different instinctual urges to stay together. For example, Aries loves to flirt, and may just see it as harmless entertainment, especially when they've committed to you. But this "innocent" diversion tends to make the possessive Bull see red. There could be knock-down drag-outs over how to behave in public.

When it works, Aries inspires Taurus to get up off the couch and take action. The charging Ram keeps the Bull from stagnating. Aries brings a lot of excitement to the relationship. However, Taureans like to move when they're good and ready and don't like to be rushed -- ever. A wise Aries knows there's something to learn from the Bull's deliberate moves.

Taurus shows Aries how to take in the sights, sounds, smells and all, of the journey. To enjoy getting there, whether it's a trip or lovemaking, as much as arriving. Taurus shows how delicious it is to savor what's all around, and is a cultivator of a sense of place. This is soothing to the restless Aries, who benefits from a cozy home base.

With Taurus packing the cooler with sandwiches and beverages, and Aries getting the gear together (surfboard, rafts, fins, and snorkels), they're ready for the beach. Taurus can remind Aries to look before leaping, but there are times when the Ram knows that risking is part of growing. As parents, they bring play and pleasure to the day.

A late Aries and early Taurus are quite compatible. To sum it up, Taurus stabilizes the impulsive Aries energies, for enduring love. And the Aries spark assures that love will never stagnate and get too fixed in routine. When there's chemistry, this is an enduring match!

Game Changers

Mercury travels close to the Sun, so many Aries have Mercury Taurus AND many Taurus have Mercury in Aries. This greatly enhances the ability to communicate, to listen patiently and understand the other. Look also at Moon, Venus, and Mars signs, for a more in-depth sense of how you'll get along. Find these planetary players on your birth chart.

Also, be sure to look at the planetary rulers here -- Mars for Aries and Venus for Taurus. The particular ways of the love planets in the chart can be revealing, with useful associations spinning out of them for thriving together.

Upside: Mars and Venus together—yin and yang, earth and fire; earthing intensity; sultry sex life; breaking new ground; creative collaboration; pioneering and practical; power duo.

Downside: Fast vs. Slow; butting heads and crossed arms; catalyst and stabilizer; provoking and stagnating; power struggles; distracted eye and jealousy; intense fights.

The Aries Woman and Taurus Man combination is a switcheroo of yin and yang. This works when Aries respects his need to go slow, and Taurus respects her need to go fast.

Aries-Taurus Love Stories

Reader Sania (Aries Girl) writes: "Boy do we fight!! And boy do we make up!! I always get upset that he doesn't want to make quick decisions and impulse trips and vacations. He has taught me to calm down and think things through before I do them. I've taught him that every decision is not a life or death matter. We will most likely get married. Our love is so strong."
