Leo and Capricorn are a bit of an odd couple. However, both are alphas who share a quest for power, achievement, and status.

There's some mutual admiration when they behold one another. First dates are a chance to show off, mainly through the senses of presence and style. Good locales for them are elegant and understated, but they might meet through colleagues or at a conference. Both are drawn to classy places and top-shelf spirits.

Leos in love are proud, fun-loving, and big on celebrations.

Capricorns in love are particular, demanding, and often mindful of social rank.

Reserve Versus Flash

Both are confident in their way. A Capricorn is far more reserved and scrutinizes a Leo with cool eyes, trying to suss out the substance in the flash. Leo brings a sense of play to romance and loves it when the Goat responds with dry humor. They each sense something solid there, a possibility to build compatibility and an enduring bond.

Capricorn is an earth sign that magnetizes what it wants through sheer force of its persona. The Sea Goat will be observing carefully to see how the Lion responds to its demands. A Capricorn is a sign of authority, the top of the heap, and the one who delegates downward. This can cause friction if the Goat tries to make the Lion a junior partner.

The Lion is equally ambitious and willful. Like Capricorn, Leo is willing to put in sustained effort to achieve goals. As business partners, they vie for the mantle of leader. But if each has its own sphere in which to wield worldly power, they can let their hair down at home.

Power as Aphrodisiac

Sometimes their attraction is fueled by admiration for the way they both throw their weight around. At their snobbiest, their pursuit of quality means everything, and everyone falls short. They have demanding personalities, and if they start to pick each other apart, a lifetime of finding fault can follow.

They're also workaholics; they might meet only in the evenings, sharing the ups and downs of successful careers over takeout. Leo gives enthusiastic support to Capricorn's all-or-nothing goals, understanding the need for accomplishment. And the Goat is a sober adviser for the Lion, the one with realistic ideas for getting ahead.

It's hard to win over the Goat, and Leo must eschew instant gratification for a brass ring based on serious credentials. The Lion finds its courage in the smiling, admiring eyes of others, and the flames could flicker out in the Goat's wintry chill. But the Lion with confidence to spare finds winning that approval a worthy ambition. Leo seeks praise from others in the meantime, thinking of the Goat as a touchstone for big-picture feedback.

Meeting of Minds Over Time

At home, Leo's lavish tastes and big spending is at odds with the Capricorn desire to slowly build up an enduring structure. The Goat grows alarmed at showy purchases that have no known practical value. But slowly the Lion convinces the Goat that it's OK to revel in life's luxuries, and compatibility ensues.

Also, Capricorn ages in reverse and meets up with youthful Leo over time, growing more willing to set down the workload for ease, comfort, and play. When strong wills are put in the service of ambitions and not turned against the other, this power duo has many mountains to climb and vistas to enjoy once at the top.
