Scorpio and Sagittarius can have love compatibility. Like any match, there is potential and there are pitfalls. If the couple accepts their differences and don't try to change the other, they can build trust. Scorpio and Sagittarius are both very physical in their love adventures. Each picks up much from body language and signals, such as a glance.

The first dates can be sexually charged if there's an attraction. The combination of water and fire can be steamy. Their elements aren't completely clashing, but it'll be like fire meeting water, very hot!

Scorpio in love is subtle, passionate, and hyper-sensitive to signals. A Sagittarius in love is charming, a trickster and a seeker.

Diving and Surfacing

Scorpio and Sagittarius have a different rhythm in the "getting to know you" phase and beyond. Scorpio is a "still waters run deep" sign that's an aspirant (or master) in the art of seduction. To open up to another, soul to soul, Scorpio wants to know Sadge will meet his or her intensity.

A Sagittarius who wants to win the trust of a Scorpio—not a cakewalk—will want to tune in and be very emotionally engaged. Enjoy the moment, and be responsive to Scorpio's provocations.

Sagittarius is intense in his or her own way, stimulating to be around, high energy, and prone to bursts of enthusiasm or passion. Scorpio's way is sensual, such as in drawing out tantalizing tensions in the prelude. Sagittarius is a bold initiator and loves the thrill of new experiences. This keeps the archers on the move and makes it hard for them to settle down.

Underworld and World Traveler

A Pluto-ruled Scorpio's nature is to sink ever deeper, discovering and revealing new layers of the soul self. A Scorpio is more apt to want emotional and psychic fidelity than the freedom-loving Sadge. The emotional web of Scorpio, woven slowly around his or her beloved, can feel claustrophobic to the archer. If it's too cloistering, inhibiting his or her movement in any way, Sagittarius begins to look for exits.

Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of knowledge-seeking through direct experience. There's a wandering spirit in Sagittarians that makes them seem always a bit out of reach. A Scorpio who understands the need for freedom will instinctively pull back when necessary. An evolved Scorpio won't use his or her considerable power to psychically hobble Sagittarius in his or her quest for movement. This will take much trust and faith in what's being created together.

It's not fair to say the archer is "light" to Scorpio's "dark," but many Sadges have buoyant, extroverted personalities, and Scorpios tend to be concentrated inwardly. If they meet each other, they find their world expanded, inwardly and outwardly, mind, body, and soul.

Red Flags for Compatibility

Sagittarius is the eternal optimist and can dive into romance just for the thrill of it. Just as his or her namesake, Scorpio encircles a potential lover-enemy with weapons raised. There's a dangerous allure about Scorpio, while Sagittarius meets the world with a disarming smile.

Scorpio's trust has to be earned, while Sagittarius is easy pickins. The freedom-loving Sagittarius has an "easy come, easy go" motto. If Scorpio is treated carelessly, the archer will soon get the legendary looks that kill.

Sagittarius finds Scorpio's palpable sexuality intriguing, seeing it as a promise of something vigorous to come. The archer wins Scorpio's interest by being forthright and without a hidden agenda. Scorpio finds that with Sagittarius, "What you see is what you get," and that helps with the trust issue.

What drives Scorpio mad is knowing that the happy-go-lucky flirting is done widely and freely and is part of the archer's joie de vivre. Scorpio wants to feel deeply intertwined in love, and with Sagittarius, that can be an elusive dream.

Scorpio starts to wonder when the love will deepen. Usually, cheery Sadge notices that Scorpio has started brooding but isn't sure why. Scorpio holds back his or her heart unless there's a sense of increasing intimacy toward the soul-merging he or she craves.

Sadge, on the other hand, can commit but likes to maintain the atmosphere of openness in any relationship. To sensitive Scorpios, that feels like the safety hatch is flung wide, opening them psychically to who knows what. That's not going to change, what with each being made of different stuff, creating a built-in challenge at the heart of the relationship.

As romantic allies, Scorpio takes Sadge into emotional zones he or she might not otherwise wade through. The active archer draws out the spontaneity in Scorpio and leads him or her into all kinds of "be here now" adventures.

Sadge lends perspective when Scorpio goes off the deep end into extreme moods. And Scorpio adds imaginative nuance to the Sadge style, at times a blunt instrument. Their house of love has to be strong enough to hold Scorpio but with enough open places for the archer to feel free to roam.
