Experiencing Astrology

Wednesday January 23, 2008

It's not hard for me to remember being on the outside of astrology, looking in. I was never interested -- even for the entertainment value -- in the superficial Sun sign scopes in newspapers. Then when I lived in San Francisco, it seemed everyone dropped astro-lingo into conversation. It didn't draw me in, because it just sounded abstract and technical. Trying to make sense of a bad break-up led me to astrology. It put my heartbreak into mythic terms, with intense Pluto-Uranus in the 7th house natally explaining a lot. I started to experience astrology as the study of elemental energies, and apply what I learned to my life and relationships. That's when I stepped through and experienced astrology.

As we move further into the Aquarian Age, ideas about unseen energies are being integrated again into the mainstream. Astrological wisdom is being integrated into many fields, notably psychology, as a path that helps people see themselves as part of the cosmos. As Bob Makransky says in an interview about Mayan Astrology: If the human race is going to survive, people are going to have to relearn how to listen to the spirits who have always guided us; and also to use techniques such as astrology which help us to develop our intuition and build our faith that everything is unfolding as it should.

With Mercury in Aquarius, it's timely to consider what can be gained from feeling part of something so grand, and incredibly well-orchestrated. It gets you thinking about yourself as a 'child of the universe.' Astrology's wisdom can be one of many guiding tools that help you make the most of your life. Have you experienced the energies of astrology? Was there a defining moment when it became real in your life?

Personally I begun in Astrology not long ago, and I took it very serious. It helped me to explain some biggest changes in my life, my relationships, etc. and how to manage them in a productive way. Although i’m Aries, my ascendant is Scorpio, which gave a reason for the trouble I’ve always had in communication and relationships.

Thank you Claire!
And Queen, with a Plutonian 7th House, I can relate to your comment.
Thanks for visiting the site, and for sharing your thoughts….

Just a comment about moving into the Age of Aquarius.

Everyone makes it sound like it’s going to be great. I know quite a few Aquarians who display a shaddy side of Aquarius, so I’d like to know what the downside of the Age of Aquarius could be.

Some of the “shadow” aspects of Aquarius include:

* Reluctance to deal with practical matters that require structure and discipline, i.e. paying the bills on time, etc.

* Challenges with making a romantic committment (the grass is always greener syndrome)

* Problems with working within highly regimented structures – a typical 9 to 5, 40 hour a week day job is not always easy because Aquarians require time off and breaks to stop and smell the flowers.

* Difficulties with implementing plans; they are fantastic brainstormers but not always so great at following through.

Is it possible that the Aquarian Age will bring out these issues in everyone, on a more globall level?

You betcha!

We may already be seeing some dark Age of Aquarius aspects, with technology being used to collect data on people; ID cards; possible computer-generated leaders and mind control messages. The ideal from Hair and New Age thinking is a potential future vision. Of Aquarian values like compassion, seeing beyond social labels, thinking of the whole, etc.
Great topic you brought up. Now, let’s see if this goes through — it’s my third attempt (merc retro?). Having major frowny face technical problems lately.
