Woody's Pluto in Virgo Poem

Tuesday August 5, 2008

"I sometimes feel like an alien creature for which there is no earthly explanation." Woody Harrelson

This is how his poem called Thoughts From Within begins, and to me, it's the expression of Virgo, with the transformative force of Pluto behind it. The Pluto in Virgo generation was born between 1956 and 1971, and just emerging in grassroots kinds of ways (Barack Obama carries this understated energy). Virgo's emphasis is on the interdependence of systems, the natural processes, healing, organic living and being of service to the whole. It's a different kind of power -- the power of integrity. In his poem set to images, Harrelson asks, "Do you dare to feel responsible for every dollar you lay down? Are you going to make the rich man richer, or are you going to stand your ground?"

Woody Harrelson's birthchart puts his Sun at 0 degrees Leo and Moon in Sagittarius. This fiery creativity is put to a practical mission with Mars in Virgo there to add vitality and drive to his actions on behalf of the Earth and the collective (Pluto in Virgo). His website, Voice Yourself, is a call to "transform the world together," with all kinds of products and resources with the aim of restoring natural Earth. I can relate to this subtle undertone of my Pluto in Virgo generation, and have also felt at times like an an alien creature for which there is no earthly explanation. My brother in I have talked about the grief of bearing witness to the rapid destruction of the natural world, the 35-year extinction crisis that's spanned our lifetime. Woody's poem is inspiring, with images of him in nature, unable to fit into the synthetic world, what he calls the mad collective dream. And because of that, searching for ways to re-create the world from the ground up, casting back to the pre-industrial revolution for a historic model to go by. Looks like a sign that the Pluto in Virgo generation is starting to Voice itself.
