Astrologers to Obama: Avoid the Void on Inauguration Day!
Here's some breaking news that keeps the Void theme going... Shelley Ackerman of Karmic Relief is appealing to Obama to make a slight schedule change on Inauguration Day. On CNN's I-Report, Shelley is calling on Obama to wait until the Moon is in a 'more favorable spot,' out of late degree Scorpio, void-of-course. When the Moon has left its last aspect, and has yet to enter the next sign, it's said to be void-of-course. The Moon is the emotional soul of the chart, and in v/c, could set a vaguely disconnected mood when he takes the oath.
Shelley writes, PLEASE humor the astrologers who care so much about the success of your presidency, Mr. President-Elect, and let the bugles play, the poets read, the dancers dance, the clerics pray and have Aretha sing an encore, but stall in any way you can and say "I do" at 12:30 pm.
And if he waits until then? The Moon will be exalted in Sagittarius in a nice aspect to lucky Jupiter on the Midheaven. We cannot eliminate the annoying Venus-approaching Uranus opposite Saturn aspect, meaning that 2010 looks a little dicey, but the better placement of the Moon should help considerably.
It's widely believed that some of the Founding Fathers were wise to astrology, and aware of the best times to initiate new things (like an independent nation). It's not so far-fetched, when you consider that Ben Franklin put astrological info in his Poor Richard's Almanac. Shelley knows it's a long shot, but says it's worth a try...to me, that shows true patriotism. With Jupiter moving into Aquarius soon, maybe some of the surprises of 2009 will be about re-awakening to these planetary currents. And how working with the cosmos can set the right tone for new beginnings.

It’d be nice of Obama listened, but I doubt he will. Astrology has the reputation of being too “out there” even for him. Remember his comment about Nan y Reagan and astrology soon after the election?
One other thing, didn’t Obama accept the Democratic nomination during a VOC moon? I remember reading about it at the time. I think there is even another time during the campaign (was it during Super Tuesday???) that a VOC moon played a key role.
Remember, VOC is associated with unexpected outcomes, not necessarily bad ones.
Maybe our next President will surprise us all…

Great points….yes the Moon was v/c on Super Tuesday until 7 pm est. I hope you’re right and we get some good surprises in 09 from our new President. Maybe it’s the Moon in Aquarius, but I’m feeling hopeful today about it.
Not only is the Moon VOC, it squares Neptune while mercury is retrograde– Dis-illusion and confusing speech– Should we all drink the kool-aid and suspend total dis-belief????
Since when was the moon exalted in Sagittarius? It is exalted in Taurus.
It is in the Constitution of the United States, Amendment XX (ratified in 1933), that “the terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th Day of January….and the terms of their successors shall begin.”
So BHO II will not be able say, “you know what, I’d like to wait until 12:30pm for the swearing in”….
I think that one of the recent Presidents completed their Oath of Office as late as 12:02pm, but usually the Oath is one minute or so before Noon on the dot.
Barack Obama does not seem to be a stickler for historical facts, so he might go along with you on this, if he could: for example, he defended his decision to be sworn in as “Barack Hussein Obama” by maintaining that “that was traditionally the way it is done.”
In fact, “James Earl Carter” took the Oath as “Jimmy Carter” (which as I recall really irked the Russians, who thought the name “Jimmy” was childish), and Reagan, who took his Oath as “Ronald Reagan” and not as Ronald Wilson Reagan.
Anyway, wouldn’t all of us agree, as mere citizens as well as “sky watchers,” that our elected Head of State is no longer really the one who “controls the government apparatus” in any meaningful sense.
Maybe we “sky-watchers” are just able to more fully appreciate “the facts,” subtle as they are, that this particular inauguration will occur under a VOC moon at 29Scorpio45′, give or take, and during the period when Mercury, “Messenger of the Gods” is retrograde.

btw, I met Jimmy (as a toddler) when he was governor of Georgia - he came to our house for a meeting with good-ole boys. My Mom set the kitchen curtains ablaze, and the men had to stand in the yard.
I have to say that I don’t have a clue what this presidency is going to be about, and how much or little power he’ll have. I know that the Neptune transit to the US Moon foretells disillusionment, and maybe that’s when we’ll see (in a more obvious way) the ‘men behind the curtain.’ I am hopeful that what’s happening now could lead to something better.
A void-of-course Moon and retrograde Mercury are what is to be. Everything happens for a reason. Instead of spending energy trying to alter events, let them unfold. It really all depends on what we do with these things.
Hope and positive attitudes go a long way.

Obviously, Obama was destined to be President of the United States. And he became so at exactly the right time.
Don’t judge someone so harshly who hasn’t even taken office.
While he’s inheriting the worse mess any President ever has, I believe he’s the best person for the job.
Also, a word of advice: Rants like yours never change one’s mind. Try using intelligent arguments, instead.
He was just RE-administered the oath because of the mistake yesterday which is very funny considering it’s a mercury retrograde and does this furfill the “curse of the void of course moon” one wonders

With the oath correctly taken tonight, I think this issue is probably resolved.
Also interesting that Mercury had moved into Capricorn.
The 2nd Oath was at 7:30 Wednesday night, and here’s what was said (from a sfgate.com):
We decided it was so much fun,” Obama joked to pool reporters as Roberts donned his black robe. “Are you ready to take the oath?” Roberts asked.
“I am, and we’re going to do it very slowly,” Obama replied. The oath took 25 seconds and went flawlessly, at which point Roberts said, “Congratulations, again.”
This transit does make us slow down, to get it right.
That does settle the matter, as far as the verbal commitments that go along with being the President. Very interesting turn of events.
FYI - Because a word was out of sequence in the Presidential oath administered yesterday it was redone today 1/21/09 at 7:35 pm ET in Washington, DC. Now what?
The “void of course moon” played out better than I could possibly have hoped, by making the 1st Oath taken “null and void!”, mercury retrograde playing its part beautifully too, by insisting the Oath be retaken.
I was so worried about the previous chart, that I wrote a letter in November last year, to request that time be delayed somehow, by 30 minutes.
I believe in the power of prayer and that the powerful prayers said all round the world for this Presidents success, have caused events to unfold as they have.
The new time for the retaking of the oath gives a much better chart with a much healthier moon placement.
Has anyone re-done the chart based upon the new date and time? What do we look like now? There is a really good article in this for an enterprising astrologer.
