Full Moon in Cancer

Friday January 9, 2009

It's a full Moon of the big heart, when emotions are a force that have the power to surge up like a great waterwall, and change things. It'll be exact tomorrow in Cancer (at 10:27 pm EST.) The full Moon in Cancer calls us home to the places that feel safe, where we can be emotionally soft. It's the strength of sensitivity that's given the lunar radiance this month. The full Moon gives weight to the emotional intelligence you have about any situation. And when the heart is engaged, a different kind of value system guides how things play out. There can be acts of courage that come from a desire to protect, nurture and come up with new ideas about what security means.

It's a sensual full Moon, and like all full Moon times, a peak one for fertility. You can have heart-to-hearts that are emotionally real, and intimate. But be careful not to be carried away by waves of feeling. Emotions are a motivator under this full Moon, but sometimes it's better to let them wash over you. Being a Cancer, I know this is easier said than done! Too much worry, fear and anxiety makes you sick, brittle, drained and all that. And in this urgent and emergent time, there's little time for sentimentality or the woe is me of the Moonchild. There's work to do. And luckily, all this heart longing is grounded by planets in earth, and drawn into the future-is-now sensibility by the Aquarian influence.

What makes you feel emotionally safe, secure and well-loved? The full Moon can guide you right to what's closest to your heart. And what's worth living for, and creating a home base around. It's an inspiring time for creativity that's a mirror of what you've experienced in life, at the emotional-soul level. Perhaps a good time to stock up on canned goods and heirloom seeds (I'm doing a bit of that myself)....It's a time to consider what Home means. And how to establish a place where you can dive deep into your imagination, de-compress and feel your feelings and just be with those you love.
