It's the eve of Mercury stationing in Capricorn, to go retrograde. Maybe that's why I'm struggling with words today. Near me, my husband is working with bricks and mortar to build a foundation for a cast iron wood stove. And that's how it feels to construct a sentence -- a bit heavy and laborious.
The heaviness of Capricorn can weigh down our thoughts. And yet, with its journey with the ultimate truther Pluto, Mercury's retrograde promises to guide us into landscapes of the psyche that are dark, and go to the roots, are substantial.
In her wonderful article on the retrograde, April Elliott Kent writes, "The Sabian Symbol for 6 Capricorn is, I think, a beautiful and exciting one: "Ten logs lie under an archway leading to darker woods." The logs can be the things that are blocking your mind, and powers of perception, from seeing the truth. But lay them out in a certain way, and they can also serve as steps that take you deeper into the darker woods."
This retrograde of Mercury in Capricorn feels to me like being in a cave. Like in this image -- one of my favorites -- the light could shine in a dark place, illuminating parts of our lives that are foundational. But for now, I very much feel like I'm standing at the archway leading into darker woods. It's a mysterious time, full of anticipation for what will be revealed there.
