Image of the Week: The Shadow Rules

Here comes Scorpiocity and that knowing that the time for coasting and letting things slide in relationships is over. Scorpio energies are a driving force this week, with Mars (raw juice) and the North Node (evolutionary direction) aligned. Not to mention Saturn's move into Scorpio on October 5th. The force (of deep transformation) is with us.

Astrologer Melody Scott Zindell makes the point that Pluto and Saturn are set to be in mutual reception. This is when a planet is in a sign ruled by the other planet, and vice versa. Here Pluto is in Capricorn, the sign ruled by Saturn. And Saturn is in Scorpio, ruled by Pluto. The spiritual brawn of these planets and signs is magnified, says Melody.

With Scorpio, there's no way to relate half-arsed, since there's a strong pull to merging. In her newsletter, Melody writes, "Scorpio is the sign that is not afraid to look at the underbelly and face the shadow. Bravely being with and facing the good, the bad and the ugly that our honest emotions betray, discovering perhaps some murky psychological underpinnings. Just how deep are we willing to go?"

The unlived parts of who we are can rise up and take on a life of their own. We could see a lot of surprising behavior from people who "seemed like such a nice guy (gal)." That's why self-awareness is critical, and being present to what reveals itself, from the shadows.
