Generational Legacies

In the bigger picture, our national destiny, the legacies of generations and the candidates’ personal missions are coalescing in a powerful cosmic blueprint. McCain, Clinton & Obama are each from a different generation and consequently derive their core motivation from different natal Pluto placements. Common concerns give each candidate a strong base of peer group support. For McCain, with Pluto in Cancer (1914-1938. Note: all generational dates are approximate.), patriotism is his paramount incentive. He strikes all the right notes for his generation—love of God, duty, sacrifice for country, home and family. The quintessential elder statesman, he is Saturn’s dog in the race.

Hillary is a member of the Pluto in Leo me generation (1939-56). Sun-ruled Leo conveys a center of the universe perspective on its progeny. Like her husband and George W., our two Boomer presidents, she is run by personal ambition and entitlement. Her feminist supporters may not realize that Hillary’s chart has strong problematic male energy—a stellium in Scorpio (including Sun) dispositing to a conjunction of Pluto, Saturn, and Mars in Leo. She clearly regards power as her birthright. Fiercely competitive, when backed against a wall her Scorpion stinger comes out. Her candidacy was doomed for lack of planetary sponsorship (i.e. relevance)--the Saturn-Uranus, old vs. new, dogfight is between McCain and Obama who occupy the more extreme positions.

The Generation Who’s Time Has Come

With Pluto at 6° Virgo, Barack Obama has already experienced the conjunction of transiting Saturn in Virgo to natal Pluto. Over the next two years, Saturn will impel all of his peers (1957-1972, ages 36-51) to step into their personal power and find responsible ways to express it. This generation regards service as a sacred trust and has a mission to fix our broken systems, create efficiency in government and clean up the environment. True to form, Obama is heavily invested in public service. It is time to pass the torch to this new generation of Americans.

Obama’s message resonates particularly well with disaffected young voters. His mantra, Change We Can Believe In perfectly encapsulates Uranus in Pisces! Two newly energized groups could have the decisive impact on the election. Pluto in Libra people, (1973-1983 now ages 25 to 35) are passionately anti-war –or should I say, pro-peace? Obama’s theme of national unity also appeals to their Can’t we all just get along? sensibilities. The youngest eligible voters, with Pluto in Scorpio, are the18-25 year olds. They would relish any firestorm of change.

Shifting Paradigms

Over the course of 2008, Pluto will retrograde between Capricorn and Sagittarius, in eerie synchronicity to the political message machines. Optimism and vision, all the rage in 2007, became passé with the icy dwarf’s ingress into Capricorn. The conversation turned to concrete plans and Commander-in-Chief credentials (Capricorn), empowering both Clinton’s and McCain’s campaigns. Pluto returns to Sagittarius June 14, through the dog days of summer, the conventions and the election. Watch for the latest incarnation of the Swiftboat Veteran’s for Truth.

The long primary season spawned broader voter participation and DNC debates engaged more segments of the party—all positive developments. Although Hillary’s name will be placed in nomination at the convention, thankfully, the event will not feature a floor fight in which Super Delegates could disenfranchise voters. However, with convention timetables beset by void of course moons, be prepared for the unexpected!
