Aquarius Full Moon Themes: breaking free of the status quo; the rebel in search of balance; sudden changes in frequency; illuminated grids; alliances beyond labels; the passion of visionary ideas; unexpected breakthroughs; becoming a global citizen; otherwordly knowledge.

Here's the chart for the full Moon and partial lunar eclipse, on August 16th, at 3:16 EDT. The Moon is Full, and that puts the Sun (Leo) and Moon (Aquarius) in opposition to each other, blending the energies of those two signs. The natural tension of these two signs comes out of how the Self is expressed. In Leo, it is grand, special and likes to stand out. In Aquarius, the unique color of the individual is seen as one thread in the great tapestry of the collective. The blending of the two puts the shining light of the Self, and mingles it with all the other shining lights out there. It's as magical a moment as looking up at the night sky and marveling at the stars.

The full Moon brings revelations. This powerful culmination promises to show you how your unique destiny fits with the drama of what's unfolding on the global stage. Why were you born now, with your particular story and gifts? How do your personal ambitions serve the collective? This is a full Moon to actively become part of the solution, with the first step being busting out of limited thinking. It's a good time to experiment with visualizations, and the new consciousness idea of creating your own reality.

Aquarius is the unbounded mind, and the desire to be emotionally independent. The Moon in Aquarius in its fullness, can have a liberating effect, as if you're floating above the Matrix that we get stuck in sometimes. Aquarius shatters the glass ceiling of ideas, so that innovations are in reach. With Pluto (power) in Sagittarius (knowledge), this summer has seen the rise of dot-connecting based on direct perception. This adds to the full Moon's potential to evoke a mass awakening to what's really going on in the world.

There's a sense that ideologies of corrupted power (Pluto in Sagittarius) are being exposed for what they are. It's signals (hopefully) the end of blind faith, and the rise of truth based on what's directly perceived and experienced. The full Moon chart shows Pluto in trine to to the passionate Sun in Leo. Looking on the sunny side, the revelations of truth emerging this summer stir up excitement, passion, play, and an explosion of personal creativity.

Let's look at what else is going on this full Moon. There's a grounding stellium ( Saturn , Mercury, Mars, Venus) in Virgo, which tugs at us to find practical solutions, grow community, be self-reliant, responsible and helpful to others. To take care of the essentials. The Virgo influence this full Moon keeps things real, even as the unreal (Aquarius) comes into our awareness. One outcome could be that breakthroughs happen that create a gulf, or tension between the vision of what could be, and the hard slog of what we're facing. Translated: I'd love to ascend right now, but I've got to make ends meet. The radical choice Aquarian lays out is a bridge to another dimension entirely.

Many are sensing that something is coming, and it could be quakes of great global change. But as a client said yesterday, it's like there's an inner restlessness that's about to explode. Our world is so out of balance, that we all sense that a corrective event is overdue. The Aquarius full Moon is a chance to make a choice of what we can control -- our own thoughts and actions. To hold an attitude of universal good will in the heart. It's about choosing to live in harmony with all of humanity, with a warm heart (Leo) and open mind (Aquarius). The doorway is stamped with a sense of service (Virgo) to those in your life (Venus), the ability to be responsible (Saturn) to the whole, to speak with integrity (Mercury) and act on the impulse (Mars) to make life better for others.

Jupiter in Capricorn forms a nice trine to the Virgo planets, and this adds weight to the decision of the moment. Capricorn likes a challenge and is oriented toward the traditions of the tribe, committed to bringing out the best of the past, to shape the future. This creates more rooted stability for the expansion of the totally out there illuminations of Aquarius to find their way to reality.

A note of caution: With Neptune in Aquarius, and the tensions of the Uranus-Mars opposition, we're vulnerable to all kinds of spooky mirages. The nature of the eclipse is to stir the pot, to force a crisis, that then turns into an opportunity. This lunar Aquarian moment is powerful because it opens us up to unusual energies. Be aware that unexpected events could seem to knock the wind out of the global soul, and create a dazed and confused effect. The trick to choosing the higher path is to avoid getting hooked on the fear, which is a lower vibe that wreaks havoc on the body.

My priestess friend in Australia reports that we're about to receive energies we've never experienced before. It's not something to fear, but something that'll take us where we need to go. These are tense times and the breakdown of old systems is underway. You could find yourself swimming in a sea of weirdness this Full Moon, as the new and old realities collide. Here are some suggestions for keeping it together, and making the most of the Uranian bridge to the future.

  • Research and put into practice ways to restore Mental Independence. Be a rebel and fight for the sovereignty of your mind in this age of mental manipulation on all kinds of levels. Know your mind, and when it's out of balance, ways to restore clarity.
  • Detox the poisons that keep you operating on a low vibe, since the drains on the body impact the mind. Exercise to bring oxygen to the brain.
  • Protect yourself from the damage of repetitive messages, news, negativity in the culture.
  • Become aware of cause & effect in your environment, and the drugs, foods, and invisible frequencies (from cell phones, cell phone towers) that have the potential to deaden consciousness.
  • Consider the pursuit of higher consciousness a life and death matter -- the ability to create a clear path to an imagined future...the one you create.
